Was recently on a Christian message board and was surprise to see the outspoken level of hatred toward gays.

Mainly referring to Neil Patrick Harris's opening song and dance on the Grammy Awards, here are some quotes -

"a shill for the worst of the worst

yet an other child actor gone off the deep end. Poor bastard

    an ignorant slut!

The homos must be id'd and ridiculed at every turn. Offer them no quarter from humiliation.

Cant someone just shove a rather large crucifix down his mouth

Neil Patrick Harris is an anti-Christian douchebag

the fags and their agendas at the core are both f*#*ed up

They must have a positive a declared assent to all their interested absurdities.

Come to Texas and see how fucked up the culture is due to homos

    gays = moral bankruptcy

It's interesting to explore the malignancy of gays

Can we allow this scourge to continue unchecked?"

Does this enrage you? Sure am glad the gay community isn't this close minded and hateful towards people who are different than them or have different beliefs!

Oh wait...those quotes were all actually on RJ forums talking mainly about Kurt Cameron (with a few slight modifications). Seriously, I'm surprised and sad to see how intolerant and un-accepting those who speak loudest about acceptance and tolerance are.

Oh no, some guys on a message board made fun of Kirk Cameron! That is totally on the same level as Christians that work to deny us rights.

If making fun of Kirk Cameron got you into such a self-rightcious tizzy, perhaps the internet is not for you.

FYI - the origional statements below:

a shill for the worst of the worst

yet an other child actor gone off the deep end. Poor bastard

    you are an ignorant slut!

The loon-bats must be id'd and ridiculed at every turn. Offer them no quarter from humiliation.

cant someone just shove a rather large dildo down his mouth and a fist him

Kirk Cameron is an anti-Darwinian douchebag

THE PEOPLE AND THE RELIGIONS AT THIER CORE ARE BOTH F***-UP.

They must have a positive, a declared assent to all their interested absurdities.

Come to Texas and see how fucked up the culture is due to Jesus Freaks

religion = bankruptcy, financial and moral

It's interesting to explore the malignancy of religious brainwashing.

Can we allow this scourge to continue unchecked?

    Dear triguybi,
if the guys here are completely out of line in their attitudes towards dogmatic christianity, then the question begs to be asked....why is your face blanked out? That wouldn't have anything to do with being gay vs your religion, would it?

The faith you belong to perhaps being less than thrilled to find out you're on RJ?

Who said I cared he was made fun of? I'm just making the point that I've been surprised to see so much intolerance and flat our hatred from a group of people who so often preach against both things.

Its like the people with the "Tolerance" bumpersticker and the Darwin fish right next to it - they may as well just have one bummersticker that says "I'm a hypocrite!"

Yes meninlove, my personal issues with not wanting the world to know I am on RJ have, in part, to do with my faith. Other reasons are probably the same as the many many men other men on here that don't have face pictures. Those are my personal issues to deal with in my own time.

However it really has nothing to do with the fact that while Christians can often be terrible representatives of the person they claim to follow, those that call them intolerant, close minded bigots are often just as intolerant and close minded themselves.

Exactly, as long as the other person has a different opinion than you - its ok to call them an "idiot" or any of the other things listed above.

I don't mind those who can be intellectually honest and say either -

"I don't mind people being intolerant of me and I'll be intolerant of them" or "Yeah I know I'm a hypocrite"

But the bitching about how intolerant others are just because they disagree with your view, while you in turn are saying stuff like above about them is what I find ironic.

    no.

Sorry, the "you" in my last paragraph about bitching wasn't directed at you but at the larger "you".

But as for funk - why is he an idiot if you don't care what he believes? Isn't it exactly what he believes that makes you call him an idiot?

Dear triguybi and gmcurious, (yikes, shades of Sybil)

This: "However it really has nothing to do with the fact that while Christians can often be terrible representatives of the person they claim to follow, those that call them intolerant, close minded bigots are often just as intolerant and close minded themselves.'

...is that so? We are in the unenviable position of having all the rights and freedoms you don't - unenviable because it can be damned difficult coming on here and seeing the resultant horrors of religion meddling in government and human rights with votes, among other methods of persecution.

It really shouldn't be necessary to spell it out in such childish obviousness as we have. We think the problem is that you read 'christians' as ALL christians.

    Not so.

BUT when religions of any stripe try to push ignorance and intolerance as marching orders from god, there will always be a push back by those people such orders seek to injure.

Speaking of intolerant, nice comment about 'fem' on your triguybi profile.
    Completely unnecessary and entirely gratuitous.

who is this Kirk person? I read the OP and thought "well if that´s the worse they can do then they are really in need of some help".

How about that we are under the wrath of God, the gender of the people we love undermines the moral structure of society and we don´t deserve the same rights, protections and privileges as other members of society, even though we have to pay the same taxes... far more substantial, no?

It's not just an opinion though. He works against the equal rights for gays and uses the Bible to condemn homosexuals. Maybe you haven't read the Bible and the verses that people use to vilify gays with. It's pretty bad how gay people are made out to be and even advocates the killing of gays. So yeah, people get upset about it when a guy supporting that ideal opposes homosexuals with the facade of being a loving and caring person.

Wow, I'm an idiot - and yes I'm the OP.

As Ganymede0 was quite please to point out, I had another screen name once. When I first found this site probably close to 2 years ago, I was totally new to any gay online activity and made an account just to be able to access features of it you needed an account for. I didn't put any real info because I didn't plan to interact with anyone. Eventually I did interact with a few people though, and as I became more comfortable with the site I decided to get a new profile that was accurate. I never canceled closed the old account though I haven't logged in since creating triguybi. Last night I logged in to see if I could actually close the account. Had two windows open, thinking one was logged in to each, but realized later it changed both windows to the old account. Thus I accidentally posted under the old name last night. No, not to agree with myself pretending to be a different person, I identified myself as the OP clearly.

Now the idiot part! When I actually figured out how to delete the account I was logged in to the new one instead of the old one - so deleted the wrong account the first time. Yeah, I know, I'm just proving how stupid you think all of us Christians are. ha.

So it let me make a new account with the old name, but not attach the two. I'll reply to other posts below.

jprichva saidIt always amazes me how whiny and sniveling and self-pitying some Christians are. Like they don't have their tentacles into every facet of American life as it is.

Hmm, if pointing out your hypocrisy is "whiny, sniveling and self-pitying" than I'm guilty.

Though I want to make a crack about the amount of whiny, sniveling and self pitying that goes on on these forums about everything from bad hair days to bad boyfriends, I will refrain. Because I know there is also some serious self pitying that takes place, and I realize much of that is due to societies views and treatments of gay people - and many of those are Christians.

See, what I probably should have pointed out in the original post is how I confront fellow Christians often on those attitudes. My desire is mutual respect, but I can't read threads on here that attack Christians by people who expect tolerance of their own beliefs.

    Lostboy,
Do I understand your issues with Christians who say those things? Sure I do.

However most of the posts about Christians on here aren't about those things - they are about how stupid their Christian views in general are. The thread on Kirk Cameron had nothing to do with his views on gays, it was all attacks on his Christian faith in general.

I understand fighting for your rights. I don't understand attacking all the beliefs of other people, the very people you demand tolerate all of yous.

Again, none of the attacks on Kirk had to do with his views of gays, they had to do with his views of creation. Oppose someones view that impacts you is fine in my book. But to say those types of things just because of other beliefs, while demanding respect and tolerance for your own is hypocrisy.

    Not so.

I'm not sure what you spelled out in childish obviousness - where did you spell anything out except to question why I don't have a face pic? (Of course you are going to get on Anto about that as well, right?)

BUT when religions of any stripe try to push ignorance and intolerance as marching orders from god, there will always be a push back by those people such orders seek to injure.

Again, the post was about his view of creation - not about intolerance. But are you saying that intolerance of others is ok as long as it isn't based on "marching orders from god"?

Speaking of intolerant, nice comment about 'fem' on your triguybi profile.
    Completely unnecessary and entirely gratuitous.

Because of my stupidity (yes, you two can call it that without me saying you are intolerant - ha) in deleting the wrong account, I can't go back and see exactly what I had there. But I believe that it said I wasn't attacked to guys who were "fem", and in the past that turned me off. I'm am very sure I didn't say I disliked "fem" guys, just that I was not attracted to them. Is it intolerant towards blonds if I only like brunettes?
In all seriousness, please let me know if I said something more significant than that and I will rethink it.

triguybi, you really need to be here a lot longer before casting stones at those that despise the christian faith as practiced by many organized religions in the US.

I'm christian and understand why the men here are angry. Being the christian you say you are is far more important than judging others for their stance on christianity. If we were all in a muslim faith oriented country the topics would likely be about despising Islamic faiths for the same intolerance and meddling.

    -Doug

PS the point Bill and I tried to make about your profile, is that when you write that fem is a turn-off, you make a whole bunch of men who would otherwise just approach you start examining their behaviour and makes them unnecessarily self-conscious. Then they don't contact you. This also puts you in position of judging, something you say you don't like. So we posted that as a way of reminding you, "let he who is without sin cast the first stone". Always remember your faith applies to you, no one else. It's YOUR journey, not another's.

You shouldn't worry about it. As Christians we are called to a higher standard and should actually worry when the world begins to agree with and like us. I'm sure if Mr. Cameron were to read these thoughts made about him - he would feel honoured.

    God Bless
