Would you date someone who had to be in the closet for his job?

Unlike many gay men with their internalized homophobia, I like being gay and am truly proud of who I am as a unique individual. For that reason, I know I could never work for a company where I would be at risk of losing my job if I were out at work.

But what about someone you date? Would you date someone who had to keep certain aspects of his life on the down low because of his job? Ie: Never being able to openly politically support gay rights?

Just because people support gay rights dosn't mean they are gay. Several str8 people I know are very active supporting gay rights. Sad to say but some of these str8 people are more active supporters of gay rights than several gay people I know. For example, they left anti-gay churches (because they couldn't stand/accept to hear such teachings against gay people) while several gays continue supporting such churches.
I wouldn't really care if someone had to be closeted on their job. Your private life and your job are not the same thing. If their job required them to even be closeted during their private life that might be an issue though.

I wouldn't keep it against dating a guy who has to stay in closet at work. Its tough to find a job and a job where you feel good is even harder. So if one has to copromise for his gay identity I would rather be understanding than ridiculing him.

    Pfft.
Right now I'd date anyone because I have *nothing* to do.
It's different when a guy is in the closet (at work) than when he is just
    'in the closet.'

This. Still, I can't imagine it would be any fun.

My BF's in the closet at work because they're a bunch of Exclusive Brethren. Nothing like religion to bring out the hate in people.

We're still going strong after nearly five years, but I'd recommend against it strongly. There are easier catches out there.

Yes I would and have. I'm just a private person professionally anyway. Plus, I'm former military so I'm kinda "conditioned" that way I guess. That's probably why it doesn't bother me at all.
