I don't care too much for theatrical musicals. I prefer the movie variations.

    Grease
    South Park
    Cry Baby
    Hairspray
    Rock n Roll High School
    Breakin

SWL2 saidWell.. I would like to see Rent or Wicked but for now I really would have to say the ORIGINAL Phantom of The Opera takes the cake.

Wicked and Rent can definitely beat out the original Phantom, but if only if you see with the right cast. Some cast's that I've seen from Rent and Wicked have been let down, and other's have had the entire audience screaming and jumping for more.
Wicked - Eden Espinosa and Megan Hilty

Eden Espinosa is the deal; saw her breakout in Brooklyn.
The Spring Awakening tour was in town this week. I saw it 4 times; is that obsessive?
Love the music and those kids are so talented to be 17 - 25 years old.
SA is not the spectical of Wicker or Phantom, but it is so smart and emotional on many levels.

I totally agree man the cast means everything. I have seen Wicked 4 times, and two were with Eden Espinosa and Megan Hilty. Those two are amazing together. I also got to see Megan Hilty and Shoshana Bean when they came to Portland and those two are great also. The last cast I saw I don't even know the names of they were not good.

So it really depends on the cast defiantly. The only other show I have seen in Grease. The main shows I have wanted to see on Broadway have closed sadly in the past year, like Hairspray and Spring Awakening.

. . . there are so many great musicals, so I will just give a nod to one song -- "You'll Never Walk Alone" from Carousel . . .

i'm old school-I had the opportunity to see several 80's musicals with original casts when they were on Broadway, and they're still my favorites:

    Big River
    La Cage aux Folles
    Mystery of Edwin Drood-favorite!!!!

saw Rent in 2000 and loved it. DYING to see Next to Normal.

Anything Sondheim, specifically Company and Into the Woods. They're both near perfect.

I've Seen it with Eden Espinosa & Megan Hilty on broadway (AMAZING!), Shoshana Bean & Megan Hilty on broadway (AMAZING!), Victoria Matlock & Christina DeCiccio 1st national tour (horrible), Marcie Dodd and Helene Yorke 2nd national tour (AMAZING) Carmen Cusack & Katie Rose Clark 1st national tour (Carmen was not good at all, Katie was not bad)

Never will forget the first time I saw "A Chorus Line" live in New York at the age of 10. Nothing will ever come up to that experience in terms of awesomeness for me when it comes to musicals.

    Lots that I love.

All time favorite of OC Broadway is Sweeney Todd.

Most favorite recent production is Avenue Q

Granted, I've only seen around 40 on Bd'way. There are many movie musicals that I've seen, but none have ever been as good as the live productions (again ON Bd'way. While I've seen some local 'professional' productions that have been laughable, and not in the way intended.)

    Jesus christ superstar
    The King and I
Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory
    Hedwig and The Angry Inch
    Evita
    Rocky Horror
    and many others

I'm a big fan of musicals

I think I make my life a little more musical by always singing though I can barely carry a tune and playing my keyboard. I love my keyboard. I'm struggling right now deciding if I wanna sign up as a filler at my schools battle of the bands. I normally judge, but most people don't even know that I play. I'm most likely not, I'm too scared lol.
