With states cutting back college funding in places such as California and Texas, has anyone noticed the rise of straight strippers at the gay clubs? There is one club in San Francisco I have recently found out that only one stripper there is gay. I don't mind straight strippers in the gay club, but I notice they have more boundaries with clients than is necessary.

As for myself I would prefer to sponsor gay strippers icon_cool.gif

Have any of your straight muscular male friends have resorted to stripping for extra income?

Here in New York City that is the norm. From what I hear a lot of the go-go boys at the clubs are straight, a lot of them are dominican (hispanic) too.

I have straight friends that bartend in gay clubs ... if thats similar? They say they get better tips and can bartend shirtless, unlike most of the straight clubs here.

I do find the proliferation of straight strippers and bartenders to be a bit offensive, particularly when it comes to the ones with excessive boundary issues -- I mean excessive to the point of almost being homophobic. You don't get to take advantage of gay boys' tips and fondness for good bodies and yet be anti-gay at the same time.

i've blogged about this until i thought i was going to fall apart. 75-90% of the dancers in most gay clubs are straight. i find it to be problematic in so many ways (most of them unseen by the patrons themselves) that it goes without saying that gay men should support gay dancers.

I don't get it. Is it homophobic because they aren't letting you grope/fondle them like the gay strippers do or something? icon_confused.gif

I've never been into a strip club before but, from what I understand, strippers are suppose to have something like a "hands off" policy or something, even in the case of female strippers in straight clubs.

there is homophobia there, regardless of the touch policy (which is different from place to place and person to person). gay men should support gay dancers. period.

Why should gay men only support gay dancers and what's wrong with having straight dancers? As long as they're doing the described job, I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed to work Perhaps you could offer me some enlightenment into the underlying issue(s)? icon_confused.gif

I have issues with straight strippers who ignore gay clientele for the giggling bachelorette parties that frequent the clubs. How dare I get treated like a second-class citizen in an establishment where I should feel the most comfortable!

I'm with Jack on this one...support the gay strippers (and the straight ones who do get it right).

Strippers/dancers should act professionally no matter what their orientation is. However that is not always the case.
In my experience some straight male dancers who perform for gay audiences act like if they were doing a great sacrifice, like if they were victims of destiny and their attitude, body language, or even their comments reflects that. Others act like if we were some kind of predators and our ultimate purpose would be to try to force them no matter if we know their orientation, as if we didn't have better options. And yet others flirt with their audiences but expect big returns in exchange, again, because their manhood is in stake.Ultimately if they don't enjoy what they are doing and donĀ“t treat their audience with respect they should be doing something else. We met a straight stripper that treated his customers both male and female as if they were the most important people in the wold. This guy knew his business.

Regardless of orientation, if they are doing a helluva job, they should be rewarded, if not send them packing. I have been to plenty of straight strip clubs and there are more than a few excellent female strippers and more than a handful of shitty ones. Its reflected in their pay due to their "customer service"

The thing is - probably more than half the strippers you've seen in gay clubs have been str8
money is money and there are a lot of gay clubs so you're bound to see some str8 dancers'
    same thing with bar tenders

It's our side of the gay hairdresser and airline steward problem for the str8 people icon_wink.gif

There have been some that have been dicks. They do act like they are doing this huge sacrifice by dancing for gay men. And I couldn't agree more, Mickey. It sucks when the male dancers spend all their night dancing with the bachelorettes, and ignore the gay patrons. And don't get me started on the straight women that get overly protective like the stripper is their boyfriend.

Well there are'nt many strip clubs in general around my neck of the woods thanks to the Bible thumpers but as far as str8 guys stripping in gay clubs I don't care as long as they realize that they came to a gay club and there will me some touching of somekind as long as the patrons and the strippers show respect to one another it should'nt matter. And one more thing the owners had to ok them to strip there so if you really have issue with str8 strippers at the club talk to them, don't hassle the stripper b/c the owner is taking advantage of our liking to see a hott body too.

I guess I'll be the only one to take the stance that I'd rather see no strippers in the gay clubs at all. I think they cheapen bars and make them come off as trashy. I'll see naked men in my bedroom...don't need to see them dancing on the bar.

I also think people who take their shirts off in clubs shout all sorts of desperation and neediness for attention wherever they can get it. Huge turnoff to me. If you're body's that great, I'm going to notice WITH your clothes on...and you're going to seem that much hotter for not looking so desperate.

Get the context right. I don't lick all the candy just because i'm in a candy store. Nor do I (usually) imprint my greasy paws on museum artwork. Isn't it actually ok for strippers to have boundaries? And don't the boundaries usually depend on the club? In the more sleazy and hardcore places, strippers are employed to perform sex shows n "interact" with customers and here I would expect that I could get some participatory action. In the more mainstream bars, those you might conceivably take your mother (!), the strippers seem to be employed solely to dance and be no more than "background" titillation. Gay go-go boys can also snap and bark back, admitedly more humorously or graciously so.
It's also kewl that straight guys have the freedom to work in gay places. In fact, I'm for intersexual mixing. Imagine if gays were one day denied the right to work in straight places such as schools, hospitals or department store cosmetic counters.

As a bartender btw...but to the original thing about straight strippers, yes this is not abnormal. I dont do the stripper thing but have DJ'd many times in clubs and tons of them were.

I've been sheltered in this respect icon_sad.gif. Well, the only male strippers in bars I've encountered have been in the many male stripper places in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (there are no clubs or strip bars here in Santa Fe, NM at all....), and the norm there is that most of those male dancers/strippers are reputedly straight men. Yet they work the audience, bar patrons, "interact" among the tables in exchange for tips in the thongs, etc. Touching the goods is OK for a price, there can be kissing, fondling, etc. and at the end of the day(night) they go home (in many cases to wife and kids) to work another day. I met some at the bars and in daylight, too, through friends there, and the guys were easy to get to know, frank, friendly and just "working stiffs" so to speak....

Fun, no problematic attitudes for the most part, and many were definitely hot material!

I think when that happens, you should hop up on the bar and strip, only paying attention to the gay men.

I actually prefer the str8 dudes at strip clubs. In general, they exhibit pure masculinity. I get off on the fact that they will take it all off for another guy for cash. The str8 dudes tend to have hotter bodies than the gay dudes as well. Whenever I see a dude dancing on stage and he is obviously gay, it is a huge turn off for me.
