I'm afraid there's not much to do in Burbank. The only time I venture out that way is to go to Portos bakery for some yummy Cuban sandwiches, the potato balls and cakes. Also there's a few movie studios in Burbank such as Warner Bros, etc.

I like Burbank. It's a semi-big city, but it does have a quaint feel to it. I can't say that it's a good spot for a young single gay guy. It's got more of a suburban vibe. A lot of TV and movie studios have headquarters there. And a handful of celebrities live up there, and in the neighboring Toluca Lake.

I don't recall seeing any gay neighborhoods. There are a few gay bars and businesses, but they're all spread out. Haven't been up there in a while, so I don't know how things are now. LA and West Hollywood aren't too far away. So you at least have the option of driving out on the weekends.

OH GOD! I HATE THE VALLEY! That place is horrible. It's hot- boring- and there is no way to get around town. I live in Los Angeles. ^_^ L.A. folk hate it out there. It's so barren. The only gay places around L.A. are West Hollywood and Silver Lake. West Hollywood is filled with 'the plastics' while Silver Lake has 'the freaks/outcasts.' Two very different scenes but both meant for the gays.

As Diffident is so subtle at pointing out, there is an L.A./Valley divide. Angelenos usually detest the Valley. If you live in the Valley, getting your L.A. friends to visit can be a struggle, "Oh, I don't want to have to go ALL THE WAY OUT to the Valley," (When in fact it's not really that far.). It is several degrees warmer in the Valley during the summer, and in some places the smog is worse, too. I wouldn't say there's nothing to do in the Valley. There are a few gay clubs here and there, but far more options over the hill in West Hollywood.

Happy to answer any other questions, if I can.

    Wilkommen!!!

I don't get the appeal of Portos. It's a nice place to eat at, but the food is mediocre. And expensive. The bakery is ok. But nothing worth going out of the way for.

    Glad I could help. icon_biggrin.gif
If you are going to be living near North Hollywood/Universal City (studios) you can catch the train to get just about anywhere. It's quick and easy. West Hollywood is just a short train+bus ride away and silver lake is just one train ride away.

    OH NO, it IS boring.
-but if you live by the train station you can get the hell out of there. City Walk (universal city) has its fair share of attractions... a movie theater, a minor theme park, restaurants and a few clothing stores and it attracts a lot of foreigners, which is always a plus in my book. ^_^
Hollywood and Highland (next train stop down) gets a lot of eastern european males... most of them are fairly attractive. *wink wink*
