Ok boys, heres another topic for you....
'Body Image' for a 'Wheelchair user'
I wonder if there is anyone out there that has an idea for a person in a wheelchair, that needs some serious health advice.
I am in my wheelchair 15-18hrs per day and am looking for some excersise program to get my core muscles working, my back and neck strengthened, my shoulder joints stronger (to help with transfers and pushing my chair)
Also , what wouldnt hurt, is some nutrition advice. I spent 8months this year suffering from 'poly myalgia rhumatica' and lost a lot of my abilities...I want them back now.............
Any or all advice would be greatfully accepted and very much appreciated and if a friendship developed out of it, all the better.
    Take care guys and thanks
    Wheelie

I honestly don't have any good workout advice for you. Considering your polymyalgia rheumatica, I would recommend seeing a physical therapist. It's possible that any advice you get from the forums could aggravate your condition.

Totally in agreement with Rich, you've specific needs that only someone truly qualified can give you, anything else could just put you in harms way, no matter how good the intentions.

There's an extraordinary wheelchair Bodybuilder named Colt Wynn you should look into. (Aside from being absolutely beautiful to see, you may be able to get in touch with him.) Just go to YouTube and type Colt Wynn in the search bar.
    There is also:

Hope this is at least inspirational if not helpful.
    Cheers,

You should probably consult a doctor or nurse before trying any new routines. You don't want to cause any more inflammation in your muscles if it can be avoided.
