My abs are pretty well-defined for a schmuck my age, but this looks challenging and fun. Anyone else do this sort of regimen before?

Tried this one and it is crazy hard. Can't do more than 8 at the moment, but working towards 12.

Those variations at the end of page two look demented! Two thumbs up for knocking out 8 and shooting for 12.

I see guys at the gym doing these all the time. As well as side to side (obliques), and stiff-legged, to the front and side to side... haven't incorporated them into my routines yet....

Thaks dude, first time I did those, felt awesome but it hurt later on like crazy. Though there are a couple of guys in gym who just kjeep on doing one after the another and they have those abs to prove it.

I do the leg raises and windshield wiper to mix things up on occasion. They are tough. I do a lot of that type of lunge in my pre-run warm up.

I did them after my chest/back workout a bit ago. First of all, I don't yet have the flexibility to pull my thighs up to my chest. I could only move my thighs up to within about six inches of my chest.

That said, I did 11 going as high as I could before my grip started to fail. Lotta work to do with these!

I love doing these. Coming from a Gymnastic's background I find them fun to do. icon_razz.gif
With that in mind the most I can do is 16. Heh.

The obliques ones are also very challenging. Great workout.

I've given these a go. To my shame, I very nearly chucked afterwards.

There are a pack of hot Russians who go to my gym together, and they all do these, and they they show each other their abs. Based upon my observations, these work if you can keep your lunch down. icon_smile.gif

CuriousJock had me doing these... or TRYING. I couldn't stop swinging! Then again, the ones he does are hanging with his arms at 90degrees, with arm straps. Reeeeeally works the arms as well as the abs.

That guide is very helpful, gonna start working my way to up them, rather than diving straight in as I tried with CJ.

You need to work on your grip before you can really do any of those bar exercises.

I like doing leg raises. I like to mix things up. Sometimes I do static reps with a straight leg. I can usually do 5 reps, holding my legs up for 5 - 7 seconds. Other times, I hold a 20lbs dumbbell with my feet/ankles and do knee-ups.

I don't like doing windshield washers. Seems like a good way to throw out your back. But I guess it works well for some people.

It is to easy to cheat and it is as much as a back exercise as an ab exercise. So its not great if you are trying to isolate just abs,

My workout buddy and I have used the arm straps, which seems to work pretty well.

Then we hit the decline bench and decline side-to-side holding a 25 pound weight to our chest. I think the cuss words I've uttered doing that one still linger in the rafters of the gym.
