hola...firm wants to test/expand its platforms in Cayman Islands..

wants some NY/London fo's stationed for 1-2 years..great opportunity but don't wanna leave NYC for that long and am negotiating for 4-7 months..

how is the social mood in Georgetown? i remember the gay kiss in the club incident over there that fizzled out..apparently more bark than bite..

been told from expats since im in HF industry i could fuck my bf in their city hall and they'd turn a blind eye..

anyone have experience in Gtown beyond a week vacation? grazi

I can't really comment on Cayman, but I've lived in the Turks and Caicos Islands for the past 4 years - also moved down from NYC. I'm not so sure I would do it again if given the choice. Sure the weather is beautiful, the beaches are insane and it's a unique living experience.

But, having to deal with the ignorance that is the people of the TCI is not something I'd like to do again. Most of the expats here are cool. But, the head of the country still publicly apologized for subjecting the TCI to the people on the gay cruise ship that arrived at Grand Turk a year or so ago. All subsequent gay cruises had their itineraries changed because the nation said they weren't welcome here.

The population here is quite small in comparison to many Caribbean countries, so the gay population is almost non-existent. There's also no gay clubs or bars around. I'm not much of a barfly, so this doesn't affect me much. It's just the overall attitude of people that gets to me.

Depending on how much into the scene you are is how well you'll like living on the islands. Good luck.

thanks guy, heard of rejected cruise stories about cayman but again i think being in HF industry nulls it since we bring so much revenue to them..

pretty involved w/ bf who's NY based so my partying days have been less..except for engagements/promotions/housewarmings etc but that's primarily with people we already know..

gtown seems to have a larger expat community than tci, but im still amazed at how small the island generally more concerned about missing my accustomed restaurants than gay bars, hoping the sun & sand make up for it but doubt it
