Well, go to the RJ page it's on, copy the link to the RJ page (not the link from the ad to another site), go to 'help' and send in the link telling them what you found.

I, for one, solemnly swear that my member is 100% gay.

I've not seen the particular ad in question, but I'm not entirely familiar with the way ad revenes, placement, etc., work on websites. You should definitely notify the admins.

you know if you become a "supporter" of this men's club, to can turn the adds off, and then you don't have to look at them. So I never see themicon_cool.gif

So true. That´s the sad thing about these people growing up in such a conservative environment: they absorb the homophobia. One guy IMed me yesterday as I was browsing laws on gay marriage and age of consent and I mentioned this and he told me he was against gay marriage.

BUT best that they have the adds here.... not going to get that much financial support that way, I think.

    Hi guys,

I blocked the ad referenced by the OP. It will take a little while for google to turn it off. If you see any others, write in with the url that they link to (like www.standformarriagemaine.com) and I'll block those as well.

    Thanks,

    Chris

Call me naive -- and I don't understand how a gay website can accept advertising dollars from organizations/companies with openly hostile perspectives and goals. Blocking the advertising from members' view is only half-honest (although it's more "comfortable" to viewers).

At the bottom of the forum pages, it only says "copyright RealJock, Inc." and doesn't show any other affiliation or website management name... so I'm curious about RealJock pursuing anti-gay messages through "advertise with us" and accepting funds from these kinds of advertisers. Or is this all isolated from RealJock and is instead Google advertising? Which might call for a different complaint (to Google).

I'd be happy to stand corrected if I'm off base here.

I'm guessing that these ads are automatically placed based on keywords like 'Gay' and 'Sports' and 'Jocks' etc, and so some anti-gay ones are bound to slip in. Typically when you allow ads on a site you don't pick the content, just the keywords.

This was sort of like when I saw one of those laughable "CO2 is Green" ads on DailyKos. My jaw hit the keyboard... icon_eek.gif

Click the ad repeatedly. Fake the traffic and frustrate those that are paying for the add.

I think the admins get paid to have 'ad space' available on their website - what ads you see are customized to your ip, location, and the website. It's just an algorithm designed to display ads pertinent to your location and keywords in the page that you're looking at. RJ has little control over what gets put there - having said that, it's their ad space and as Chris stated, they have dealt with it.

    *shrugs* whoops

Glad to see the ad was removed. I hadn't seen it either, but would have been appauled if I had. Thanks for calling it to our attention.
