Love Handles

So I'm starting to see definition in my front abs but obliques and rear "love handles" are a problem. Since I lost a ton of weight, I understand I have an uphill battle, but can anyone suggest to me some exercises that will target those problem areas?

hey man,

first congrats on the weight loss!
awesome work.....can't believe the pic w/ the before jeans

I understand that you can't really do spot exercises on love handles but they will respond to overall body conditioning, so if you continue to do the good work you've done, esp. cardio, you should see them reduce. keep in mind it does take time, and from my experience, you'll have to keep after it on faith before you see results.

Try some of the ab exercises you'll see in the profile of RichmondTrainer. His videos will inspire you.

Ofcourse there are lots of good tips in the workout plans.

It is TRUE that only cardio(and continued calorie restriction) will melt away that stubborn love-handle fat.....and it is the last to go.

But you've obviously got the discipline. Congrats.

Am too on the same track loosing love handles. A good diet is very imp for toning your lower abs.
My biggest problem is, I want to gain on Upper body but loose this tire around my stomach

Oh, I still struggle with this, but then again, I'm at that age where it's "normal" for fat to settle in the midsection. Plus I didn't get really hardcore about working out until about 3 years ago, and that area definitely takes time, especially in men.

Keep up the hard work and be patient.

You seriously need to get yourself the Ab coaster. My gym just got this machine and the first time i tried it, my abs were sooooo freaken sore like they never have been before. This obsviously means it works. I have been doing this machine for a while now and my abs freaken rock ass.

Diet plays a big role also. Crappy love handles can be a big headache, but they eventually go away if you are persistent.
Cheers mate

One of my friend was a gym addict but had the same problem and I showed him one exercice and now he has no love handles.
You just take a ball (or use the machine for the lower back extension). You put your feet over the wall laterally and you do lateral crunches. You should feel the muscle there really working....It really gets rid of the love handles!Hope Im kinda clear :/

There's always a little fat there or on the belly of most of us. It is really hard to get the body to give up that last little bit. I've always heard that you cannot spot reduce - but I will suggest two things that may help with the appearance of love handles & both have to do with lengthening the spine and improved posture 1) swimming - strengthens my lower back & is excellent for back/spine in general & 2) Yoga - (or Pilates will do the same thing) a strong core pulls the torso to it's full length.
