This was a great article !! The main point that sticks in my mind from it, is that such votes against gay marriage are based on religion. Here in the USA we are supposed to have Separation of Church and State, its obvious that the churches are what brought down efforts for gay equality in every instance. I think the only way this will change is when there is a Federal Law that ends this discrimination against gay marriage, afterall Marriage is in the eyes of the state is a state institution for the purpose of administering its civil laws. Yes the ceremony is a religious one usually, but its only recognized when the state marriage license is signed and recorded in a court house. Therefore religious thinking about the sanctity of marriage is to be only between a man and a woman is a moot point, religion should be out of the picture entirely. Marriage between gay people would be just as beneficial to the state as with traditional marriages. We need to acquire and keep this right of gay marriage Federally

Good article, but it will go nowhere. The government is going to have to step in and that is the only way to get rights, or an all out boycott of everything str8 owned.

I'd sincerely encourage everyone NOT to attend or support any str8 friend's or relative's marriages. Tell them that it's not fair for them to be able to do something you are not, and they should think about that next time there is a vote.

Interracial marriage had to be rammed through in 1967. Apparently the majority of Americans didn't support it until 1991!

".....the eventual goal, which is an inevitable appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court at some time in the future. When it reaches the court, if there is sufficient public support for SSM and a sufficient number of states that have legalized SSM, the court might issue a ruling legalizing same-sex marriage across the entire U.S. It did this during 1967 over interracial marriages. Interestingly, it was not until 1991 that a majority of adults in the U.S. were in favor of allowing interracial couples to marry."

It will work out way better in a long run if there is no state sanctioned marriage at all....just civil unions... if you want to "contract" with your loved one. Universal health care won't work either unless everyone is a free agent since anything other than individual plans are going to discriminate against somebody.
