If it weren't for being gay, I would have been married right after highschool, had kids a year later, and would be working at a local pork processing plant the last 20 yrs. Basically this is what happened to a few of my straight friends from high school. It's an ok life I'm sure, but not for me.

Gay midlife crisis: Rich, successful career, well-traveled, getting laid often and looking fantastic but alas, alone.

Straight Midlife crisis: Broke from divorce, child support and alimony, dead-end job from getting hitched too soon, fat, unhealthy, can't get laid and alas, alone.

    Hooray for blatantly unfair generalizations!

Embracing you "gay" means seeing the world from a different perspective than the heteromajority and perhaps/hopefully appreciating more of what the world offers to its inhabitants in terms of people, places and life experiences.

Yes and to do this many gay men need to assess GGs #3. Lets not forget all those gays who work in Buckingham Palace, and give themselves more airs and graces, than the boss herself does.icon_wink.gificon_idea.gif

Gay is real. I'm really gay. If by GAY, you thought I meant, fake, affected, or disingenuous, I can assure you that I did not. Cheers.

They're a bridge between men and women. Gays have insights into the emotions and thinking of both sexes. Best of both worlds.

Freedom from all standard expectations put on me by family and society. I'm already deviating from the norm by my core being, so I feel no pressure and can pursue any and everything my little mind can dream up with no judgements.

    And what Timberoo said :-)

I've always appreciated that "different perspective" that came when I allowed myself the freedom of mind to explore what I felt was true for me, even without the permission of the heteromajority.

I know I've grown in empathy for others and their struggles when I recognized what I needed for my own freedom.
