I'm not only newto working out regularly, but I've purchased some creating and some protein shake for the first time. Any recomendations on how to ease on to these, or should I just go at 'em? Also, I've read that some people completely dissagree with creatine... any experiences?
Thanks!!

Unless you're a vegetarian, you probably won't see drastic results as you naturally consume creatine via foods like fish

Protein is definitely beneficial to take after workouts, as for the creatine, I take it. But you have to remember, certain people respond to it and certain people don't. I have been taking it for the last 2 yrs and I think it helps strength-wise, but I still don't know if I am "responder". Just try it out, and since you're just starting, I hope you got creatine monohydrate bc that is what you should always start with.

I have tried it twice over the past 6 years. Both times I bought the most recommended brand that the douches at GNC recommended. Both times, YES, I did appear to get bigger and more muscular looking. However, it was all just for show and I looked puffy. When I pressed on the muscles they seemed mushy and not hard. It was mostly water weight. You will retain water like a dam! Then one day I came down with the influenza and lost about 10 lbs in 2 days and most the extra puffyness got flushed down the toilet. Ever since then I have stuck with protein supplements and eating healthy. I see better results now and my muscles are hard when I flex them and not puffy.

I guess water weight based muscle could be motivating to work out more if it atleast looks like i'm getting results.. ya know?

Regarding unwanted side effects. Protein supplement powders - be sure to follow the instructions - finding one that tastes good can be tricky. For several days you might feel bloated and have ..........extra gas. It will pass as long as you are not taking too much and mixing with plenty of fluids (skim milk). Creatine - be sure and mix with plenty of water or skim milk (i mixed both the protein and creatine together). Too little fluid and i would get an upset stomach or nausea for an hour or two afterwards.

Although i no longer take creatine, i felt it gave me more endurance and stamina. I do believe it added some muscle size as others have described BUT when i stopped it - i lost 6-8 pounds and noticed a decrease in muscle size and to some degree strength. Be careful, the longer you are on it (year?) and then stop it, many people go through a period of a few weeks where fatigue sets it - but it does pass.

Oh, and give it time - i would say if you take both regularly - and follow a healthy diet and sleeping habits etc - you should notice some effect after several weeks.
