Wexler Petition Nears 100,000 But 14 Judiciary Dems Remain Silent

On 12/14, Democrats.com was excited to announce Rep. Robert Wexler's campaign to demand impeachment hearings for Dick Cheney. Wexler's goal was 50,000 signatures but with your support, Wexler's petition is near 100,000!
    http://www.wexlerwantshearings.com

Wexler is thrilled with your response, and he will hold a virtual town hall meeting on Thursday at 9 pm ET (6 pm PT) on Florida Progressive Radio with Kenneth Quinnell, co-hosted by Democrats.com.
    http://www.blogtalkradio.com/fpc
Wexler has the support of two Judiciary Committee Democrats, Luis Gutierrez (IL-04) and Tammy Baldwin (WI-02). Four others are co-sponsors of H.Res. 333/H.Res. 799, Rep. Kucinich's Articles of Impeachment for Vice President Cheney: Steve Cohen (TN-09), Keith Ellison (MN-05), Hank Johnson (GA-04), and Maxine Waters (CA-35).

But that leaves 14 Judiciary Committee Democrats who have NOT called for impeachment hearings. These 7 voted to send Kucinich's bill to Judiciary on 11/6, so they should publicly support Wexler's efforts: John Conyers (MI-14), Sheila Jackson Lee (TX-1icon_cool.gif, Bobby Scott (VA-03), Brad Sherman (CA-27), Betty Sutton (OH-13), Mel Watt (NC-12), and Anthony Weiner (NY-09).

These 7 voted to kill Kucinich's bill on 11/6, so they need to CHANGE their positions and fulfill their oath of office to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign AND domestic: Howard Berman (CA-2icon_cool.gif, Artur Davis (AL-07), William Delahunt (MA-10), Zoe Lofgren (CA-16), Jerrold Nadler (NY-0icon_cool.gif, Linda Sanchez (CA-39), and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-20).

Please email all House Judiciary Democrats through this petition:
    http://www.democrats.com/topelosiandjudiciary

If you are represented by any of the 14 Democrats listed above, please join your local Congressional District Impeachment Committee (CDIC) and plan local actions like letters to the editor, district office visits, birddogging, honkathons, and collecting petitions and personal letters on the streets:
    http://democrats.com/cdic-find

If you don't see a CDIC, please create one:

Big story from all the news channels during the day today:

"Firefighters quickly doused a two-alarm fire Wednesday in the historic Eisenhower Executive Office Building, which houses the vice president's ceremonial offices and the majority of the White House staff."

I figure: when you've got a direct portal to hell, there's bound to be the increased risk of fire... icon_twisted.gif

Al Qaeda is just a tool the administration uses to intimidate us and destabilise the Muslim World. They haven't struck a western target in a long time now. Not unless you consider Algeria to be western (it is on the western half of North Africa) This is a fucking scam to turn the different Arab ethnicities and sects against one another. First we had a notorious incident that justified the deployment of troops into two strategic middle eastern nations. Then we get their own people to slaughter eachother, while stay in the middle of the fray to long enough to conquer them with our superior corporate might.

I say bring it on Osama bin Bush! He's here in America right now. He's been here the whole time! He's working for the Family. He stops into a studio now and then, records an audio tape or a video now and then, an agent then sends it to Al Jazeera. Then Osama takes off the costume make up, gets back into his Lexus, and then drives back to his house somewhere near Langley. He calls up ol' Dick, and then they go play squash.

Fuck Dick! That evil bastard eats babies! Fuck Osama too!

Who exactly do you mean John4?
Let's see... the Al Queada that got the biggest recruitment shot in the arm when we went into Iraq?
Or how about the Al Queada that has a free reign in our friend against terrorism's Pakistan? Where the Pakistani secret service is basically an arm working for terrorist networks in Afghanistan

Is it that the one you mean...because I'm confused

Ugh! Does the bitterness EVER end with these Dems -- sheeeesh!

What a HUGE waste of time passing around a petition to impeach Cheney. It would NEVER happen, not in a million years, nor should it. History will show that he was probably one of the more influential Vice Presidents (and I mean in a GOOD way) and that America was probably lucky to have him in that position during this very difficult time in our history.

Sorry, but I get so tired of the Bush administration getting blamed for everything. The War on Terror is real, not just some figment of the Bush administration's imagination. Thank God this president didn't just bury his head in the sand but rather he did what needed to be done even if it wasn't popular.

I am silly, but you are paranoid and obviously blind. I haven't seen any terrorists. I hear about them all the time, but where are they? They are in the middle east! The war is over there! People like you seem to think that they are bombing up and down the streets of every American city, every fucking day but it just isn't so! Al Quaida's activity is still confined to the islamic world. 9/11, the London and Madrid attacks were isolated incidents. It is just bluster and rhetoric. I am so much more likely to be killed by a REDNECK AMERICAN BIBLE THUMPER or a NEO-NAZI SKINHEAD! For the record- it was Eric Rudolph of Florida bombed that gay bar in Atlanta, not poor illiterate Mohammed from Quetta! Muslims didn't kill Matthew Shepherd either. I've never been called a "fagget" or directly threatened by anyone of a middle eastern ethnicity.

The chances of you or I ever meeting this "Mohammed the Terrorist/Insurgent" that you are so afraid of, is remote beyond calculation. It has nothing to do with our great Department of Homeland Security either. They are slaughtering eachother and our boys (who they would naturally consider to be the terrorists) for power and control on their turf, not ours. They are trying to get us to leave their lands. They aren't trying to take ours, nor could they. Al Quaida's actual threat to America is to incite anxiety and paranoia with more fanatical and rhetorical bluster!

The tragic fact is that these Muslim terrorists have killed thousands of other Muslims for every single Non-Islamic pogrom that wouldn't convert.

I don't see them anymore, but, not too long ago there were electronic signs posted over the highways in NJ that said "report suspicious behavior". I wanted to call and report that I was seeing these signs all over the highways that said "report suspicious behavior" but figured if I did, arrest would be a certainty.

The war on terror is a war on an adjectve...
it was and is a tool to distract you from what has been going on in this country and the fact that in the White House we have a war criminal who should be in jail
Is that straight forward enough for you Curious?

Actually, GQ, it sounds kind of naive, ill-advised, and not really based in reality. To say Bush is a "War Criminal" to me just sounds ridiculous, like more bitter lib ranting that has no real bases in the facts.

I agree with Tyler Jock --- What part of us busting up the terrorists who wanted to bomb 20 planes flying from London to the U.S. did you miss in the summer '06??? Or the terrorists that bombed the London subway? How about the ones that they foiled who wanted to bomb the Army base on the east coast last summer???? The WAR ON TERROR is real, not just some figment of the BUSH administration's imagination. The terrorists are attacking over there, because WE are not letting them get over here. That's the whole point! Take the war to them before they can bring it to US over here. It's no accident that our government has managed to keep our homeland safe since 9/11. I'll say it again...Thank God that the Bush administration isn't practicing BURY YOUR HEAD IN THE SAND politics like so many Dems would choose to do.

I just don't understand why we would be wasting time and energy impeaching Cheney. Why not go after the one that counts the most...BUSH?

Although I believe they both should be impeached, to me, all this hoopla about going after Cheney seems like a distraction from the bigger problem.

I also agree that history will show Bush/Cheney acted with unselfish and steadfast valor in fighting to protect not just our country, but the rest of the world from acts of terror. Those who say there is no threat: read The Al Qaeda Connection: International Terrorism, Organized Crime, And the Coming Apocalypse by Paul Williams.

It amazes me that people will bite hook, line and sinker into "science" concluding global warming is man-made-- (see 400 prominent scientists' thoughts about the "FACT" of global warming--

HMMM, even "science" cannot agree on the "facts" that Gore concludes are indisputable . . .)
    http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Minority.Blogs&ContentRecord_id=f80a6386-802a-23ad-40c8-3c63dc2d02cb

--but pay no attention to a dozen countries' intelligence agencies' conclusion: terrorists have suitcase nuke bombs and WILL use them. When just ONE of these goes off in this country, and they will, then the idiots who say there are no terrorists and why are we wasting our money on fighting "ghosts" will say: why in the HELL didn't the government do MORE to kill these bastards.

Thank God for Bush and his rock solid determination, and for the men and women who volunteer to do the fighting to that you don't have to start praying five times a day and learning Arabic. We need to start supporting this war fully so that we can finish the job more quickly.

1: yes, there are wars going on but this "war on terrorism" bullshit is 99% exactly that, bullshit.
