Having 4 meals rather than 6?

Currently I'm finding it harder and harder to get snacks ready enough to have roughly six meals a day, so I've began eating 4.

Is this fine enough? If that research is right then most that matters is caloric deficit (if I'm trying to lose weight) or more calories (if I'm gaining weight).

So as long as I eat clean can this be okay?

look... you won´t die from only eating 4 times.

the frequent and small thing is about keeping the metabolism even and avoiding insulin spikes... This means you burn more of the intaken calories than you would if you were only eating twice a day. think small.... Instead of thinking 6 MEALS (which conjures up thanksgiving meal proportions) think eating 6 times a day... that´s smaller portions. I have recently found that I cook what used to be a "normal" lunch... eat half at lunch and microwave the rest a few hours later and munch it down. no extra cooking for that one..

today (not an ideal day by any means but hey)... breakfast at 8, sandwich at 10.30, first lunch at 13.00 another sandwich at 4.00, an omlette and salad at 6.30 and cornflakes and an orange at about 9pm.

I read a report recently that indicated the 6 meal a day concept was hard to maintain. People still tend to eat portions that are too large. So, instead of eating six meals to properly fuel the body, people were ingesting more calories than they could burn and gained weight.

So, the lesson -- as always -- is watch your portions and don't eat more calories than you can burn.

I can't eat 6 meals in a day. It's more like 3 real meals, and snacking in-between. So I guess it's more like 4 or 5 "feedings" per day.

As long as you consume enough of the right foods, in relation to your fitness/nutrition goals, then you should be fine.

It doesn't necessarily need to by 6 "meals" each day. When I was working insane hours, I'd still eat 6 times a day by having something handy to munch on mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Almonds and apples were the easiest for me, since I could grab them and eat as I was working without having to stop to heat something up.

Okay, obviously "meals" wasn't the best word... eating four times a day rather than six then...
