Just a quick note to all those who have served in the military during this, or any, time of war. We are not forgotten.

To the supporters and friends/family of someone who has served, I commend you.

    /salute

Let me add my voice to the thanks. Regardless of my feelings about armed conflict of any sort, I acknowledge and appreciate your efforts and sacrifice and the way of life it has allowed us and those we love to pursue.

Perhaps my one wish should have been that the conflicts end soon and our (sometimes very hot) soldiers can come back.

I am kinda surrounded by u.s. service-members here, and don't think about troops of our allies a whole lot, but here was a very moving video of a Canadian soldier. Watch it all the way though:

I was deployed to a base in afghanistan in Feb. this year with the NATO forces. Among my favorite to work alongside, were the Canadians. Fun-loving, fearless, and hardworkers.... those are words that can describe them. I will always remember the hard times we had there... and in the face of adversity and all the threats we received on a regular basis... there were a few of them who always made me smile and kept me in a positive atmosphere.

I plan on visiting one of the many canadian memorials for their troops. After all the losses we incurred, and all the Fallen Soldier ceremonies I stood in.... I still feel like it's not enough and that we all have to do our part to help shoulder the burden of war.

Alright, I'll get off my soapbox now.
