I have to agree. I have plenty of friends with children of that age and some are extreamly bright and being the single father of an extreamly bright son, I just don't see a 10 yr old making the association between the pledge and the GLBT community. Sorry, but I think it's wrong for either side to use and manipulate children to market it's political agenda. Let them be children, they'll grow up soon enough!

icon_lol.gif I love that line: " I was fuming and was too furious to really pay attention to what she was saying. After a few minutes, I said, ’With all due respect, ma’am, you can go jump off a bridge.’" icon_lol.gif

Bravo to the kid for sticking to his conviction in class, but telling the teacher to go jump off a cliff wasn't the best thing to do icon_lol.gif

I think I pretty clearly said it's wrong for both sides to use children! Maybe when you're a parent you'll understand !

So does a good parent go around telling other parents their kid has no mind of their own or accuse people they don't even know about things they have no evidence of? anyone can be a parent .. even a baboon icon_rolleyes.gif

I didn't accuse anyone of anything. I said based on my experience I find it difficult to beleive that a 10 yr old makes that association on their own. And it is just my opinion, but a good parent doesn't allow anyone of any idology to exploit their child !

oh really? I wouldn't put that to a vote If I were you icon_rolleyes.gif As far as intelligence goes, all of my nieces and nephews were that smart by age 10 if not earlier. Maybe you need more experience as a parent.

jprichva saidBut it's typical for right-wingers to impute sinister and ulterior motives whenever they're presented with something they dislike.

JP there have actually been studies on that topic ..
http://reason.com/archives/2004/10/20/pathologizing-conservatismResearchers at the University of California at Berkeley essentially confirmed this view with an meta-analysis of scores of academic studies on conservative political attitudes last year. In the study, "Political Conservatism as Motivated Social Cognition," the Berkeley researchers found common psychological factors linked to political conservatism include: fear and aggression, dogmatism and intolerance of ambiguity, uncertainty avoidance, need for cognitive closure, and terror management that causes conservatives to shun and even punish outsiders and those who threaten the status of their cherished world views.

Here is the link to the research paper .. It probably won't tell you anything you don't already know icon_wink.gif
