How much do you believe in Astrology?
Nov 13, 2009 5:11 AM GMT
I have an irritating, conflicted relationship with Astrology:

My mom has been super into it my entire life, which skewed me into believing it at a young age. Now, I think it's a bunch of bullshit that doesn't matter, even if it is true.

Yet, my sign is Leo and I'M SUCH A FUCKING LEO! It's too much. Maybe Astrology is true, then. Or, worst case, I've learned to behave like a Leo because I knew I was one at a young age and co-opted the characteristics?

Bottom line: how much do you guys believe in Astrology? When you are dating, how much do you care what someone else's sign is?

I wish I could completely forget about Astrology, but I still defer to it occasionally

We live in a universe of possibilities. Astrology is not an absolute, set in stone, or a guarantee. It simply gives you some insight into the possibilities. IMO, it's not something you believe in but something that can be helpful along the way.

I think reading your 'WHORE'ascope in the daily newspaper is bullshit.

But having your charts done with the date and place of your birth can be a really entertaining art form.

Notice how I 'whore'-ibly mispelled the word above?

I like astrology, just because it's fun.
I certainly wouldn't plan my day around it.
But, it's uncanny how many of my signs qualities I have.

So, don't let it run your life.
Just have fun with it, or totally ignore it.
It doesn't matter.

I don't really - but every once in a while I'll meet someone and actually guess thier sign - especially if they're horndogs because it seems like some signs are "Horndoggier" than others

Astrology is not a real science, and should not be taken seriously. My astronomy teacher went on for hours about how this so called science is just another scam to get people's money. A former classmate of his, an astronomy major, got a job working for an astrology company writing charts and laughed his way to bank. He also told use how those fortune telling phone operated companies work. Fun stuff.

Yes we are... you horndog you!
If I remember correctly, we are like 4 days apart. I can just see our hoofs flying in the air already..
Now where did I put that Bow and Arrow?

There is truth to it, but I don't let it run my life. I was interested in seeing what Astrology says about Aries personality. Thought it was kind of funny, because it was a pretty accurate description of my personality.. I'm not gonna live my life by it though lol.

Aries! Lucky guy,, they are some of the coolest on the planet. Actually my favorite. I get along with your sign the best of all.

my best friend is the quintessential taurus, stubborn! not sure aquarian fits me, but it has some qualities I like.

As my Astronomy professor said,
"Imagine the sheer egotism of thinking that bits of rock six billion light-years away care about what you're going to have for lunch tomorrow."

Such a wild generalization... just like gay men are some of the most superficial, vain, attention-needing whores on the planet.
That's why astrology does not work.

I don't put any faith into it but truth is truth and has a way of getting to you via many means. It's fun to play with the idea of it all. Especially, when talking about sex signs at house party's or after a long intimate date.

Astrology works for individuals who practice subjective validation.
Nov 13, 2009 8:11 AM GMT
That was a good article! Yet even I were to practice subjective validation, how could astrology work unless I have full control over absolute reality.

I find some truth in astrology. As a Capricorn, I am dead on target. But they can be off when other aspects of a person's life is looked at a little closer. So, you can't always believe what is said.

i actually study it and have been doing it for quite some time and i can tell you that astrology can be used as a map. or a computer. etc. its a fantastic science.

most people get frustrated when their horoscopes dont match and they dont understand why and throw it to shits. but just how u have to become basically ur own trainer and nutritionist to get in killer shape then well, u need to get into it to actually figure out how to decode it.

the sun, which naturally rules leo, (which may be the most egotistical sign. loves attention. childish. giving. etc..) anywho, the sun which rules the EGO is one of the main reasons why people say I AM a "Leo, Virgo, Taurus" what have u. truth is, all of the planets were in a certain place on the day of ur birth. and now, earth was rotating as well, so those planets are located in different directions depending on where ur located while ur spinning. so your ASCENDING sign, which is the sign coming over the horizon (its constantly happening) defines a lot more about your personality and EVERYTHING else a lot more than just going to the sunday paper to read ur sun sign. so ur birth time, birth date and location will help u see the imprint u were basically given explaining all of the aspects of ur life what theyre like, will be like, and how they vibe together.

as u grow and mature, so does ur chart. its a very complex thing. and having studied it, i can say that yes, its real. i dont need to really believe in it because its the just the way it is. it just is. and pretty amazing too.

Astrology is NOT a REAL science. It's more of a 'religion/cult.'
Although I'm sure there will be no convincing you otherwise.
Nov 13, 2009 10:37 AM GMT
I just think it's awesome how my personality and future is decided by the position of celestial bodies. truly amazing, but I don't quite know what to believe in, when there's also many other believable, reliable sciences, like reading tea leaves, palm reading, throwing chicken bones or looking into crystal balls or a deck of cards. Can you believe in all of it??? I wish I could

"How much do you believe in Astrology?"
ZERO....This is as daft as believing in feckless religion and god.

Hi Del,

Well, I've got to say, I believe, but not in the commonly accepted sense.

First of all, I think you'll find Vedic (Indian) Astrology a lot more accurate (after all, they were practicing it about 2000 years before the greeks came along)..but more importantly;

I don't view it as a labeling of personality or a path to self-understand...
were I you, I'd use it for one reason and one reason only;

picture astrology as highway signs in the sky.
You're traveling down your own personal life road...and you see the highway sign...it may or may not have relevance to you,
"Food and Gas 2 next two exits"

maybe you've already got enough food in your car
and maybe you already fueled up...so you don't need to take the exit
or pay any further attention to the signs

More specifically...the sign might say
"Worlds Biggest Ball Of String" Exit 248

And maybe you've got a string phobia...
or you don't like the fact that someone
wasted their whole life collecting a mountain of string

Now...just like reading your astrological report in the morning...;

you can say "Ohhh Nooooo...I hate string...man...this is gonna be such a lousy day"

Or

like driving on the highway...

"you can simply not take the exit."

Get me?

ZERO. Less, if I can use negative numbers.
