Given I do not mind a remake or a few...I have some old school cuts that I have heard sung through some other artists. Mary J. Blige is the queen or remakes, no doubt, but I still love me some Mary. She sang some pain for me when I was going through. She did a cover with George Michael on one of Stevie Wonder's songs, which was produced by Babyface- As; I can belt the hell outta this one.icon_biggrin.gif Monica, is another artist I don't mind but I think she should've left "Misty Blue" alone. Dorothy Moore turned it out and thats where it needs to stay. If you can't sing the remake as it was originally carried out, LEAVE IT ALONE! That alone goes for Diddy, who is notorious for spinning new songs out of old records. Anyone in here got any old faves that they would like to hear their fave artist sing or cover?

yeah i love that mary/george cover, it's fantastic and the clip is sweet as. and mary's last album i've been playing for weeks on end i had to resort to only playing it in the car or i'd drive everyone at home insane.

i'm liking amy winehouse's cover of "moody's mood for love" at the moment.

Madonna's "Fever" and "American Pie" (I really only like her version of that song because she made it tolerably short instead of eternal like the original)

Prince's cover of Joan Osborne's "One Of Us" is AMAZING! as is his cover of Joni Mitchell's "A Case Of You"

Aaliyah's "At Youre Best" and Annie Lennox's "Waiting In Vain" and "Take Me To The River" put me through it every time i hear them.

Dolly Parton's version of the Cat Stevens classic, "PEACE TRAIN"

Whitney Houston's version of Dolly's "I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU"

Michael Jackson's version of The Beatles "COME TOGETHER"

Alien Ant Farm's remake of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal."

Dynamite Hack has an amazing remake of "Boys in the Hood" that really makes you do double takes at the lyrics.

At first I loved Alanis's remake "My Humps" because I thought the pretentious hack was actually making fun of herself, but the consensus on youtube is that she's making fun of Fergie and the song (which would just make me despise Alanis more). Anybody heard any comments from Alanis on who her target is here?

Generally I'm not a fan of remakes, but I do enjoy Metallica's version of Bob Seger's "Turn the Page" and I also love Nickelback's version of Elton John's "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting"

Also, I enjoyed The Fugee's version of Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly"

I do like Al B. Sure!'s remake of Hotel California by The Eagles. Can we say Rebbie Jackson and her cover of Yours Faithfully by Elvis Presley? Or is she forgotten? How about Mary J.'s version of Ain't No Way with Patti LaBelle? Well, Patti can sing almost anything. She did a cover of The Spinners' It Takes A Fool & I'm a fan. El DeBarge & his cover of Carlos Antonio Jobim's version of Dindi. Now that I can belt to the fullest of my ability. Any others out there familiar with old school remakes or covers?

I LOVE that song by Dynamite Hack. It kills me every time.

One of my current covers is Mandy Moore's Umbrella

Grace Jones has done some amazing covers:
