Travelling alone on an upcoming Atlantis cruise

I'd really like to try one of the upcoming Atlantis cruises and was wondering if anyone's planning on travelling solo as well?

I know they offer a "shared room" option, where roommates are randomly selected, but I'd much prefer to find a nice person in advance.

If you're travelling alone or considering it, please let me know via the forum or mail. Thank you icon_smile.gif

    Don't be ridiculous.
I've been on many cruises and never saw any problems like that.
If the ship is heading into certain areas of the world, agents actually come on board and search for drugs. So, passengers are forewarned.

    To the OP:
It might help if you post where this Atlantis Cruise is going.
Whatever you do, don't back out.
Your first gay cruise will be the time of your life.
And, I've heard nothing but good things about Atlantis.

I'd go (if I could) but then again - I'd go alone if I could - have a blast!

You're only going to have to deal with this person in the room and as its a cruise, how much time are you going to be spending in the room?

You might want to check out www.atlantis411.net. They have a discussion board where I've seen people post for roommates. Although it doesn't seem to get as much traffic since Atlantis created/improved their alumni site.

I've been on a lot of Atlantis Cruises
If you're going alone what you're doing ... trying to get someone that you at least know a little bit beforehand is a good idea
I know some guys who did the roommate matching thing and sometimes it turned out to be a nightmare
But anyway you do it ... you'll have a blast

I'm completely with you on this one. I'd like to at least have a choice of who I am going to room with. I don't trust them to pick someone that isn't going to get on my nerves or rifle through my things.

If you don't find anyone on here you are reasonably comfortable sharing a room with, my advice is to pay the additional fee and get a room just for yourself.

So many of the gay guys on these cruises are druggies, drunks and social infants. Your entire cruise experience can be wrecked if you have to share a room with one of these types of people.

Pretty much a over generalization about the type of guys on the boat. You can find them if you want to, but I have been on twoand pretty much found that the guys who go are a cross section of gay men. The two I have been on have both been in Europe. I am going on the 2, back to back, Med cruises they are planning this summer, but will be with someone. The company might help you match up with someone, give them a call and talk to them about it. Yes, your time in your room is minimal. I highly recommend these cruises, a lot of fun.

I would agree with this. I was on cruise last november to the southern caribbean. there was a group of over 400 gay men.

the drugs and fallen down drunks was something to behold. i didn't realize that grown men acted like this. met one guy who couldn't go back to his cabin because his room mate he claimed was having an orgy and he wasn't interested in joining. he spent quite a long time in the library and on deck.

so if you can pay the extra for your own cabin.

A good friend of mine went on the Atlantis cruise a few years ago and had the time of his life. He lives in Hawaii.

I happened to be travelling to Barcelona at the same time his ship would be there so we met. He made a lot of friends on the ship and they were all real nice guys.

My friend doesn't do drugs or even drink. My impression of his friends was that they were all sane and fun and NOT drugies and crazies.

But personally, I always prefer my own room. I like to take a nap and come and go as I please. So if you are the same and can afford it, spring for the single room.

Atlantis cruises are not like other cruise lines. There's a different quality of men who do it.

I'm booked for the Jan Atlantis cruise using their share program. I've never sailed with Atlantis before but I'm really looking forward to it. I do know that if there is a problem with your cabin mate you can ask to be switched at the beginning of the cruise.

If anyone would like to go in a balcony cabin let me know! icon_smile.gif

I'm booked into the Atlantis Baltic cruise from Copenhagen to Stockholm on July 24.

It's my first cruise, I'm not really a jock (I just found this site on the google search when looking for info about Atlantis) but I am a social outward Irish fella - just wanting to meet some new people who loves traveling.

Not sure if I'll like it or not - Any advice? Anyone else traveling solo on the the cruise?
