Right wing/chritianist plants on RealJock?

Over at JoeMyGod.com recently, Joe Jervis has had to delete posts from people posing as gay men making threats against christianist right wingers. They do this to bolster the claims by Porno Pete Labarbera that gays are plotting hate crimes against him and his ilk.

More than once in the last couple years that I'm here, I've read posts from RJers who, while not advocating violence, seem to fit the profile of someone on such a bent.

I'm prompted to post this today, inspired by a nutcase from Rhode Island touting support for Palin.

    Ya think?

There are nut cases everywhere McGay! LOL You know that. Jeeze. If you're crazy enough to believe a bunch of made up stories, well, that's just crazy.

I'd say that as far as this site goes, there's probably no organized "planting" going on, but there are individuals who get a kick out of starting conservative/liberal political flame wars.

You can’t help yourself you read the post and think WTF, but you take the bait just to see how far this nut job is going to take it.

I find it amusing; in that, they seem to think all of us suffer short term memory loss and get caught when we call them on their bull in subsequent threads.

Just putting it out there, gentlemen. Sometimes, the contents of people's posts makes me think provocation can be the only motive for the post. Porno Petey called the FBI on Jervis. The FBI, so far (or at last look), hasn't responded. They're probably laughing as hard as the rest of us.

I think its highly probable that anti-gay folks get into gay chats room and other gay sites, put of fake gay profiles in order to learn about the "opposition"........sort of like spysand moles.....so that they can strategize and learn things to use against gay people.

The aliens are among us. It could be your neighbor.....lol

Which brings up an important point. Many of us write personal information here which is meant to stay here. But that information, and your pics probably can easily be googled.

I mean.......can a coworker, or employer, or anyone else easily find out what you have written here, or for that matter, on any other gay site?

    I don't mean to be paranoid.....but.........

lol, I get it. Like planting someone on RJ who says 'I'm gay' (when he really isn't) and liberal (when he really isn't) and makes threats against Palin so it looks like gays libs want to do her in. Have I got it right?

So if you support Palin, you are a plant?

Where do you end with this?

You are only not a plant if a poster falls into line with your way of thinking?
Or with the gay line of thinking - whatever that is...

You have got to be kidding with this icon_rolleyes.gif

Is this meant to be one of those satire threads?

In the few years I have been here on RJ, I have gotten quite an education of the political leanings of gay men. I thought for most of my life that the gay community was monolithically Democratic, and actually so does the Democratic Party. After some of the things I have seen here, nothing could be further from the truth...

Yes you've got it. But I suspect that this is not what the OP is talking about. And except for those few posters who claim to be independent and yet create threads that laud republican ideals - I've not noticed any other evidence of this

God I hope not - on the one hand it seems sort of cinematic - but on the other hand so did Watergate.

There's a "rally for religious freedom" in DC today. If you think these people aren't trying to stir the pot, you're probably passed out under the table.

RowBuddy saidI know for a fact that there are "plants" on gay websites. I am a bit of a cyber hacker and very good at web research. I once found a guy on gay.com that was a member of an anarchy group. He would create fake profiles and chat with guys on gay.com, get them to give out private information, talk with them on the phone, tell them stories, etc. When I started to talk to other people that were had by him I started to investigate the guy. I found him in numerous chat rooms across the country, always changing his story. Once I figured out how to trace IP address on the old gay.com I tracked his to a web board exclusively for anarchists! I knew it was him because of clues in his grammar and his screen name. One of their missions? To create chaos and mistrust and collect names of homosexuals for some purpose. Scary! The stuff on their website was borderline neonazi. This guy was based in Florida.

I think this is the sort of thing McGay is talking about. People like Peter LaBarbera joining Realjock, creating a fake profile as a 'gay activist' who's going to assassinate Sarah Palin. Or worse, joining Red State's site as a gay activist bent on Rogue Sarah's death. That is a highly damaging (never mind socially irresponsible) act that is not beyond the pale of some of the more extreme right wing activists. It'd be like me joining Huffington Post and posting comments as a militia member threatening to blow up the New York Times building or something.

As long as this is what we are talking about and nothing more insidious. Have you noticed anyone going to such extremes here?

My impression: anyone who does not toe the gay party line as perceived by the people who perceive themselves to be the arbiter of what the gay party line is supposed to be.

A bit of a mouthful, but the best I can do

    THAT WAS SCARY
I guess I don't understand what they are so angry about.
General announcement: My final project for photography this semester is religion - the content will be offensive to several people in my class - we are currently "segregated" into a liberal and conservative split - it started with the use of words like "Damn" and "Fuck" - ( we got the better studio :lolicon_smile.gif)
Anyway I will present the first week of December - so if you never hear from me again - they got me!

This is why only verified or paying members should be allowed to read and post the forums. That way we could be sure that the crazies that post here are our crazies and not some troll. icon_evil.gif

And if the "plant" verifies and pays? Or don't you think that they would?
