maybe you should put yourself out there a little more...take some larger steps to finding some?....

    what are your current tactics?

    Suggestions:
    1. Don't forget that anything worth doing should be worth doing well. You've shown us that you're lazy. No picture. No profile. Whiney. Try a definite approach of confidence and disclosure. Folks will respond.
    2. Don't forget that there's nothing attractive about a picture-less who whines. See item 1.

Sorry, bud.... but that's the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.
New York City was the easiest place in the world to make gay friends for me.
I think you might need to look in places other than bars or clubs. Try the LGBT Center in Chelsea.... see what kinds of activities they have lined up.

    Why's it so hard?...

    That's what she said!

And to answer your question, I wouldn't go looking for "gay friends". I would look for friends based on where/what I enjoy doing, not simply because they're gay.

Every big city has all kinds of gay organizations, clubs, etc. that you could join.
Do a little Googling of gay organizations in NYC.
