    [quote]
the wording of Subsection B effectively "eliminates marriage in Texas," including common-law marriages.

The government should make all those people who thought they were married refile their tax returns as single instead of a joint return. icon_wink.gif

Oh that would be so funny! I´m guessing the problem is where it says

"This state.. may not create or recognize any legal status identical... to marriage"

Which they are taking as saying that the state may not recognize marriage because marriage is identical to marriage.

They were saying this back when Prop 8 was on the table. Seriously... dumb asses. I laughed at it. It did nothing and if anything screwed EVERYTHING! Typical Texas Republican douche-baggary. I like how its about to be overturned so that two gay guys can get a divorce.

The false beliefs systems held by the folks in The South, along with their pronounced ignorance can truly be amazing. It's not enough that they're ignorant, selfish, hateful, and fail to have any sense of the "village" but that they act out on "dumbing down" folks around them.

We celebrated this week because while places like Nebraska have had automated (computerized) traffic systems since the 1960s (Lincon, NE was the first nationwide with computerized traffic control implemented in 1960), they finally got around to automating the light at Lake Park Road / 407 and I35E, one of the busier intersections in Denton County. Now, instead of waiting 5 minutes for the light to change, if there's no traffic from the other direction, the light changes immediately, as it would in regular states nationwide. This is just one example of the selfish approach to how things go around here. (Spend a dollar to save a dime.)

How folks can go beyond ignorant to ignorant and hateful amazes me, and how they're so cheap, and hateful, that everyone suffers that lives here is sad. It could be so much better if they could see the bigger picture. Unfortunately, many folks here are brainwashed / indoctrinated into false belief systems regarding deities and economics and the better good from the time they're very young.

Folks here among the rudest and self-centered and short-minded I've ever seen. Of course, why do I not leave? Someone has to show them how to behave. The economy is robust here. It could be SO MUCH better if the folks here would be more decent humans.

I love it! The best part is where they say something to the effect of "you don't have to be a scientist to figure out what that really means." Well, in this day and age, where legal accountability is constantly brought under the microscope, the writers should have known better than to "leave it open to interpretation."
