Good places in SF to bump into other gay guys if you aren't into the bar scene?

I'm taking a trip to San Francisco soon and I'm wondering about good places to get to bump into other gay guys, but I'm not big on bars or good at them in general. I also might have a straight friend in tow who would want to be places that had interesting prospects for him as well.

Bar suggestions are ok, but we're looking for stuff beyond just bars and clubbing for the trip. I saw that the Japan town has a traditional bath setup. My friend agreed to jump in on it if it is about relaxing and not hooking up. Has anyone spent time there?

I don't live there, but I do visit pretty often.

Anywhere in the Castro would be good to "bump" into several gay guys. In general, SF is a pretty fun and friendly place. I think for the most part you can expect to run into gay guys all over the city.

There really are so many good places to see guys (family) out and about in SF. Just a few favorites include:

    * The Marina Green - big expanse of lawn with guys getting sun, running, playing frisbee, playing with dogs, maybe a little game of touch football.

    * Running / rollerblading between the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marina Green.

    * Polk Street - - - restaurants, stores, shopping.

    * Russian Hill - - - running the steps / climbing the hills.

    * Nob HIll - - - Huntington Park - catch some sun - or have drinks or dinner at The Big Four.

    * Union Street - - - pubs, shopping, hanging out.

    * Pacific Heights - - - Running (again) on the Lyon Street steps and studying architecture all over the area.

There are so many more places to go. Other guys who actually live IN the City can give you their favorite places. Have fun!

Your talking about Kabuki and it's not a hook-up spot. The good thing about kabuki is that it is very relaxing! One of my favorite places to go to in the city. I have also met some hot gay guys there. It's also perfect for checking guys out! There is a no tolerance of sexual acts at the spa. So I wouldn't suggest any circle Jerks.

Another place to go to is Dolores park, alot of gays hangout there.

If your looking for anything in particular give me an email!

    have a great trip!

It's San Francisco, you can't help bumping into gay guys everywhere. The 24-Hour Fitness gyms there are equal-opportunity meeting places for you and your friend.

Japan town has some missed connections on CL. I'm confused, so you're coming here to SF to meet guys for just hook ups? or for dating? or is this like a fling while on vacation thing? It's San Francisco, gay guys are everywhere - try to some of the *tourist spots (the Embarrcadero, Japantown, Castro area/Market St, Folsom/SoMa district....etc). icon_cool.gif

Im not there at the moment so I dont know what the weather is like, but I guarantee you, on a nice day, you will meet some amazing people at Dolores Park. Usually up on the top of the hill in the back you can find the crowd of people in the middle age range brackets--not to mention, thats where the best view of the city is icon_smile.gif

Ive met a few pretty special friends in that park. Treat it well, and I hope you enjoy your trip!!

Also, for food, google for locations:
Monks Kettle--amazing food, so many amazing beers
    Weird Fish--My favorite
Butler and the Chef-- a french bistro, Amazing food
Martuni's-- piano bar that knows how to make their drinks ;)
