Flame War Fun
Nov 20, 2009 6:49 AM GMT
Fun? Funny? Adrenel Fix?
Tragic? Pathetic?
Cathartic?
Virtual Battlefield?
Horny? Lonely?

Is it just verbal roughhousing, or do some people really get upset and take it seriously?

Get mad, get flamed, get crunk.

seriously though

i just get embarrassed when i try to be mean.

Dude, wait. It can get very personal and very offensive when people resort to personal attacks or if you feel really passionate about a topic and someone refuses to see it your way. Plus, there are e-things in existence called duelists and trolls that wait patiently for flame wars to start, plotting and scheming about how they will bother people. They come in with the most rancorous and damaging contributions, because they've been premeditating them.

............NO TROLLS

I take umbrage against any derogatory comments flung my way, especially when such comments come from dumb, uneducated, wrong-headed people. Therefore, I take flame-wars to be as serious as a seizure. After a particularly nasty thread, I need Xanax to calm down for the night.

(teehee...)

Okay, that's a bald-faced lie. It's actually damned near impossible for me to take anything in life seriously, including myself. I'm a moody, mouthy asshat sometimes and say stuff I shouldn't sometimes...but more often I'm just an innocently-rowdy overgrown kid with a mischievous streak a mile wide.

some make it appear that they take it very seriously and won't quit until they get the last dart thrown. Personally, I'll exit the scene, don't have time nor the interest to do battle on RJ, there's too many other interesting topics to take part in for that.

I just read a forum called "new pic" - anybody else catch it? comments?

That's an awesome thread. It's like a train wreck you can't look away from.

lol, Jawrhed,

"Fun? Funny? Adrenel Fix?
Tragic? Pathetic?
Cathartic?
Virtual Battlefield?
Horny? Lonely?"

It's all of the above, we think,

We posted this, though, on another topic, that it's,
"an acid test of sorts that shows who's casually cruel - and who isn't. For those that are, best of luck in personal relationships, because that evil genie you can't keep in a bottle. "

We prefer to do this with what we read,
"one thing we've learned on here is when people post comments it's a huge flag that states THIS IS WHAT I'M LIKE AS A PERSON.

Then when we go back and read comments good and bad on topics we see the personalities and can decide from there who's worth our time and well, who isn't."

...we've heard some protest that this is just a forum and just the internet and that they're really not like that in person.

To that we say the internet is part of real life alright. Welcome to the future. People post n flame forgetting that the whole world can see them here.

...just wait til photo-searching tech comes alive and someone can scan in a face pic and have a search engine pull up every forum that face has ever been attached to or shown up on.

well that comment is the reason I added a post to this topic. Anyway - to each his own.....some guys like flag football and others go for hardcore pile-up tackle. I just hope everyone knows what league they r in.......

I've thrown the odd verbal barb here and there myself, but I have to say that the sheer viciousness of the "New Pic" thread astounded even jaded ol' me.

Wow.

. . . the odd verbal barb? . . .

. . . you are the one who jested about the young folk singer who was mauled to death by wild animals . . .

. . . i doubt that your delicate sensibilites are really hurt by anything at all . . .

Ok, so maybe I'm still 'new' to this, but

do the words 'muscle' and 'twink' belong in the same sentence?

Yes... it is possible and is one of the proofs for the existence of God (a proof which is nullified by the existence of twinkies).

The longer one hangs around the dark creepy halls of RT, the quicker we become accustomed to rather aggressive tendencies...the desire to circle around a weak one who makes the wrong comment.

We all stand in line with a bat ready to be the enforcer of good or the instigator of evil.

I speak good, but laugh my ass of to the comments you jerks put up there. We ask for to be beaten up a bit.

The picture post was the best....LOOK!!!! We are still talking about.

So who's the next victim?
