    No, he just renounced the potato for something new, though I think he did subsequently eat it, to obtain closure. His point was to worship absurd things, in parody of organized religions. In truth he worshipped nothing, being far too intelligent for such nonsense. He was my closest friend, and best motorcycle riding buddy, not to mention a fellow soldier, a combination that can't be beat.
