Does anybody have this or know anyone who does? I have been told by a doctor that I may have reactive hypoglycemia...I wanted to see if anyone else has heard of this or had to deal with it?

**Ive looked up a ton of stuff on it, however I just wanted to hear about any actual experiences. I had heard that the reaction can sometimes come from gluten? Didnt know if that was or could be correct

When I was in my early 20's I had Hypoglycemia, I had a very fast matabulism which added to lowering my blood sugar. If I ate desert, any kind of fruit bread, or had a soda or ice cream between meals I'd end up so sick and weak, I'd end up vomiting and sometimes sick for 2 or 3 days. The doctor did a glucose tolerance test (blood sugar level) and mine was dropping down into the low 40's. They put me on a 5 small meal a day diet for two months, each meal had some protein (cottage cheese, cheese, meat, eggs, nuts) some fruits, fruit drinks or some vegies. No sodas, very little breads, pastas, and potatoes. (because they raise blood sugar, while protein levels it off and will keep it more level for a longer time because it digests slower) the doctor explained that when the pancreas has an over abundance of sugars, whether directly from sugar or from carbohydrates in breads, pastas, potatoes, the pancreas will over react which sends the blood sugar way down. Hense the frequent small meals always with some proteing which again tends to keep blood sugars more even. In just a matter of a few weeks I felt better than I had in a long long time. from then on I made sure I never had anything sweet between meals and limited them even at meals, I would take some cheeses, nuts, maybe some beef jerkie with me to work and snack on it between meals. In about 10 years I outgrew the trouble and stopped getting sick over my blood sugar going to low. Diet can make all the difference, eat more frequently and smaller amounts, It really helped me, I wish you luck, cause this problem can really make you sick, and low blood sugar can also cause depression. Let us know how your doing !!!
