How fucked up is your family tree?

I just did some ancestry research on my great great grandmother on my mother's side. I found her parents were first cousins. That kind of made the family tree weird to straighten out cuz I wasnt expecting the same great grandparents etc to show up twice. Of course, both fathers were name Johann. In fact, the whole fucking family partically was named Johann. Then the grandfather had the same name as one of the fathers, 2 Johann Jacobs. So that confused things....had to keep them straight. The other father married a woman with the same family name. So then I had 3 branches of the family with the same name. And to top it all off, a couple of the men in the tree married women with the same last name as their mothers. Lord knows how related they were.

These people needed to expand their social circles. There was definitely too much inbreeding going on in the old country.

So how fucked up is your family tree? ... icon_biggrin.gif

Tell me about it. Now I cant wait for something to turn up for her husband, my great great grandfather. He is from the same area of Germany. See if his family managed to incorporate some new blood once in a while. ... icon_lol.gif ... But they got married over here, which is probably why she didnt married one of her cousins....'least I dont expect him to be a cousin... icon_eek.gif

To hear my Mother tell it, the family tree was ruined when I came out. (Never mind the fact that I have two straight, married brothers). I explained to her that I have killed every plant I have ever tried to care for, including a cactus so if the family tree was dependent upon me for survival, it was doomed long before I decided I liked boys. She thought a minute and then agreed with me... I hate it when she does that. Takes all the fun out of it.

nothing so much as that. only found out that forebears on my mother's side were Tories from England. After the American Revolution, they fled for Jamaica.

My family tree is the compelte opposite. It is multi cultural with every color in the rainbow. More science/work-a-holics on my father's side and more art on my mother's side. icon_smile.gif If you go back far enough, there are also some people that did agriculture during times when most of the population did agriculture. But there have always been well educated people: doctors, musicians, primary advisor to the emperor of china, teachers, and a poet (Sir Walter Scott) etc.

Mine's annoyingly well documented, especially on the Mormon side of the family. Them Mormons and their obsession with genealogy. The all the branches essentially read the same. Asshole German marries German cunt and spawns angry little krautmonsters. Angry Irishman knocks up village whore who then shits out a litter of screaming vertically challenged combative drunks. Somewhere the Irish and German start mixing and after tossing in a Brit or a Frenchie here and there you get the grab bag of psychological disorders that is my family.

    Love it.

    Myself (EuroMutt):

Scottish, Irish, Welsh, English, French, German

    - far back in the family tree, we were connected with British royalty (so naturally, inbred)... then we had also connected up with the Morgan family (so again, inbred, filthy rich, and... evil). But there was some crazy rich family drama with the patriarch dying and the step mother sending the sons to North America to start franchises of families, saying she would "send money".

    - she didn't... (bitch). now we have to pay to take tours of our former family manor in Scotland... awesome.

    - also, the family continued down the line of degenerates, including a hit man for the mafia (we found a photo of his hanging online), and then... not without some irony, we had a hangman in the family, who was the "last hangman" of the Irish for the Brits... but... he also hung some Nazis at Nuremberg, so that's a good thing, at least.

    - but yeah, mostly criminals and degenerates.

    ---- and now me...
