Yep, flossing my teeth... an absolute requirement before bed. I'll never forget my dentist telling me when I had my braces removed, "You either floss and keep your teeth clean or you will be losing them by the time you are 40. I have peridontal issues... but my teeth look great.

I haven't lost a one..... and I am so structured about it I can't sleep unless they are clean. I'll get up in the middle of the night if I fall asleep.

    So here I am flossing.....

Any habits you have that are requirements?? Why do you have em?

if you mean good habits, i really MUST make my bed every morning... i love getting in under tight sheets. getting into a messy bed at the end of the day is so dissatisfying.

if you mean bad habits, i really MUST bite my fingernails until they bleed. i have no idea why, but quitting this habit (which i have done umpteen times over the years) seems to be as difficult as breaking a smoking habit.

Thanks for that Jack. Yeah, I never leave my bed unmade.. NEVER unless I'm too sick to get out of it. Its been that way since I was 8 years old.

I really dislike tidying things up every day, but if I don't my room gets a heavy claustrophobic feeling and I have problems sleeping because of it.

Lately, eating. Ectomorph to death, and my current bulking attempt has me shoveling food down my throat until I feel sick. Several times a day. Starting at 4 am every morning. And as it happens to go in these high volume situations you just end up eating a lot of the same foods over and over and over and over and over.

Oh crap! LOL Are you kidding me? The guys at work and I have this theme recurring/going every day. We are not alone on this. I resent having to do the same chores over and over. It doesn't matter what it is. Sweep/mop/vacuum. Clean the bathroom. Mow the lawn. Clean the gutters. I need a rich Palm Springs daddy to hire folks for all this.
OK, I stay up/fall asleep on the couch reading and sometimes TV because its the floss/brush/gargle routine I am avoiding, but... I can't go to bed w/o it so it gets done. I hate mundane routine. I also like my teeth and gums and hate bad breath so I will continue in my rut.

    Haha Ditto!!!
I'm usually pretty organized, but sometimes during the day with school and work I barely have time in the morning to make my bed and what not so before I go to bed I have to spend some time tidying things up cuz if not I just get these feeling like Im cramped up and an extra weight has been added to my body and I can't fall asleep.

one thing i can't do a single day without is washing my face with soap. as bad as people tell me it is for the skin, i believe it works since i can't count on one hand the number of pimples i've ever had on my face and it feels a lot more refreshing than having shitty expensive greasy moisturiser residue on the face.

plus being asian i am blessed with the ability to age very gracefully icon_biggrin.gif

I actually love flossing my teeth. Brushing is kind of a pain sometimes, but I do it because it's followed by flossing. Am I alone in this?

EDIT: Having said that, you might think it strange that I'm not showing my teeth.

im not a fan of flossing either. Luckily it hasn't caught up with me. I use ALOT of mouthwash. I am super blessed to have really hard strong teeth, and I've never had a cavity. Flossing is a little more difficult for me because I have a permanent bar on the back of my lower teeth. Makes things a bit more complicated!

I hate flossing, never really got into the habit. Would not be able to sleep if I don't brush my teeth though. Absolutely hate to shave. I prefer a totally clean-shaven face and my facial hair have a weird slant which means for me to have a clean swipe, I must shave upwards. It can be painful...and I hate using shaving gel or cream...

I don't hate flossing. I'm very thorough about it. I rank it with my exercising, which I love. What makes this different is, occasionally I'm tired, fall asleep on my bed and I wake up realizing I haven't flossed. Thats when its a pain.

I hate daily housework, especially dusting, because I know it's never-ending, the dust just starts all over again. So I hired a housecleaner who comes in.

The other thing I hate doing every day is dishes, another eternal task. When I first moved in with my partner his dishwasher was broken, said he never had one that worked well, anyway, meaning I had to wash by hand while he does the cooking (thank gawd). Well, the pleasure of that repetitious job soon wore off for me.

So I replaced the broken machine with a new top-of-the-line model, bought the best dishwasher detergent according to Consumer Reports, and voila! Even he is impressed, cleaner than washing by hand, and now that daily chore is behind us, too, other than having to load the dishwasher and run it every 2nd or 3rd day, unless we have a dinner with guests.

Okay, I getcha. I have to admit, I'm not very adamant about these things. That's one of those situations where I'd head to bed without doing it and be extra thorough in the morning. I'm pretty moderate about all these ornery tasks mentioned here.
