Ummuhan Darama, a neighbor of Mr. Yildiz, was shot in the ankle during the attack and has filed criminal charges against his father. She said she was the only one among her neighbors willing to testify.

Ms. Darama, a religious Muslim who wears a gold satin head scarf, said she was the only one among her neighbors willing to testify.

“The police and local religious officials are trying to protect the killer because they think homosexuality is a sin,” she said. “But in Islam killing is an even bigger sin, and no one but Allah has the right to decide between life and death. Ahmet was a nice, gentle boy and he didn’t deserve to die.”

That is really sad, there has been a rise in murders of gay men. In Puerto Rico a 19 year old gay man was decapitated, dismembered and burned

Also in Baltimore a 15 year old boy was stabbed to death by an ex-con who was living with the teens family and apparently forced the boy in to a sexual relationship http://www.advocate.com/News/Daily_News/2009/11/18/Baltimore_Gay_Teen_Murdered/ icon_sad.gif

more like using religion as a shield to hide their evil.
evil men insert evil rules into religious books , which in their turn
sanction the evil of other men.
    a win win situation.

isn't that basically what' DADT is all about - without the killing .
though the army probably wouldn't care that a gay evicted soldier would
kick the bucket because his life and dreams were ruined.

What a twisted set of values. Our religion says we must kill our own child to uphold the family honour.

It sickens me. What a total waste.

Though sad it isn't news, it is apart of the culture and fanatical views of the religion. The same has been happening to girls, even in this country.. Its a shame you don't hear the womens rights groups talking about it.

Reminds me of a different day. Perhaps they were right in their view of that part of the world.

theantijock said[train wreck]When Abraham obeyed God's commandment to kill his son Isaac, was God testing Abraham's loyalty or was Abraham testing God's love? Did both God & Ahmet's father fail that test when no angel interceded?[/train wreck]

No angel interceded with Abraham. If I recall correctly, God interceded directly. Where are you going with this?

NB- make no mistake though....if the RWcN, (Right Wing christian Nazis), of this country could get away with it, they would do the exact same thing to Us here. icon_mad.gif

Its great that at least one person is willing to testify in his defense. I'm sure shes not having an easy time with the rest of the validating an honor killing. Hopefully she will be able to maintain her defense for him. No one should have the right to kill anyone.
