I know there is a large number of ACE group fitness people on this site and I was wondering if they could share some tidbits of info as I prepare for the test. I am active on ACE forums but I don't feel the info is that helpful.

So far, I was told to really know HR calculations, Special Populations, how to construct a class, heat stroke/exhaust.

Does anyone know if this is hard. I have a pretty good knowledge of kines and training. I have studied the book but the info isn't organized well.

I believe I am over thinking this especially since I am preparing for NASM PT cert which I believe to be way harder than any ACE program.

    Thanks for your help.

It isn't terribly difficult but a solid review of the material right before the exam can help.

My PT exam was one of the hardest tests I have ever had to complete. It was all essay format with 16 questions, and I had to have a videotaped practical showing in correct form and posture 25 upper body, lower body and core muscle strength training options. I certified with AFPA (American FItness Professionals & Associates) because I couldn't afford ACE. I feel like I had a thorough comprehension of everything I read, and with AFPA they had a student help line for any questions. You had to pass with a 95% or better and I graduated this past June.

As an instructor I can tell you as you work with your students in a class format - make sure you teach every class as if it was the students first time. Always offer modifications to high and low impact movements, cue every move before hand so they know what is coming up next, and give them constant reminders to breathe - as many people will tend to hold their breath especially working with weights and bands. Congratulations to you and best of luck! icon_smile.gif

ACE standards are notoriously lower.which is probably why the OP is a little confused as to what to expect.

Bump, I will be taking it this January and wanted some more feedback. I am just so nervous, most likely unnecessarily.
