The First Collaboration: AN RJ MURDER MYSTERY RJ Writers Requested.....

To this point we RJ forum readers and writers have either expressed our views on various topics and/or have opted to start a thread and discuss something. Sometimes important, sometimes not so much, sometimes very fitness oriented, sometimes nothing serious. Many of us have enjoyed
the creation of friendships and getting to know others.

One thing I've been impressed with is the level of talent (and education) here. I've wanted to take it to the next level... there are SO many possibilities with this site.
And I have an idea for an initial "collaboration" of sorts. That is, for a group of 4 or 5 RJ members to band together and write..... the first...

THE RJ MURDER MYSTERY (a once a week, 8-9 week mystery)
    Coming in February!

A well known RJ member is about to meet an unfortunate demise... at the hands of another!! Someone here is responsible! And we are going to find out why and how.... A "who done it" packed with a number of RJ members, suspects, seemingly guilty parties.... Will RJ sleuths resolve it?

The RJ member writers would all discuss and agree the specifics of the story, would all agree that editing, input, etc by others would be necessary.
Each writer would only be responsible for a specific part (so not to become too cumbersome).

Let me say, I have talked to about a dozen RJ members about this idea. We want it to be credible (not sound stupid). Most are enthusiastic. One of our forum members (who I respect a great deal) stated that he "didn't want to read about an RJ member dying". I can understand and would be approached carefully. The main point would be the mystery. It will be a good first effort on the part of our RJ members who opt to participate as writers. One of our forum members with whom I chatted offered to be the "victim".

I have discussed it with RJ staff and they have approved the concept.

If you would like to be a writer, please let me know .. or if you have ideas or want to help out, e-mail me.

Future threads will give updates on the progress of this MURDER MYSTERY as well as the specific date it will begin and what day each week a new installment will be posted......

I love this idea, and I have a good amount of writing experience, so count me in. This should be fun! As long as it's not mean-spirited (are you listening Musclequest?), it's all in good fun, and no one gets their feelings hurt, I think it could be a hoot.

Well then what's the fun in that? icon_rolleyes.gif
If my suggestion of G-Farce was not approved as the victim, I was going to suggest Gay repuGlicans.

I already have my creative gears churning in my head. I already have some fun ideas. Villains, heroes, a sex scandal, I'm so excited! icon_lol.gif

I'm seeing one very prominent far left leaning member who is exposed as a fraud and becomes the campaign manager for a Sarah Palin Senate run in 2010. (Could it be RealLifeDad? JP??? TigerTim???) Stay tuned, Folks...Oh GOD this is gonna be fun!!!!! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I doubt that politics will figure prominently in any way. I'd vote against
    that one....
But cute idea... keep thinking ...

Well statements in a thread about proposals and the real thing in a novel are 2 different things. I think it has some real potential.

I think picking RJ members to be killed without asking them to be victim is tacky in the extreme. You can kill us. That should satisfy MQ to no end. Being Canadian and supposedly commie left wing brown shirted nazis, it will make several others happy too. icon_wink.gif

It will be approached with utmost sensitivity. I will note that you will allow yourselves to be victims...

I think the key here is to have fun and remain tongue and cheek. I think it's silly to avoid the political angle because some of the most heated arguments on RJ have been political. But, it can poke fun at both sides and be non-partisan and we can have fun with it, so everybody should keep an open mind. As for someone dying, this IS a "murder mystery", folks, but we can also have fun with this as well -- perhaps it only appears someone is dying but instead they turn out to be the hero, or maybe we invent fictional RJ characters for this. I love the creative possibilities so all I can urge is that everyone keep an open mind and that any and all members who have a creative mind should be encouraged to participate.

Still think G-fArce is the best choice for the victim. But other-wise ANY repuGlican would do.
Either way it will put a HUGE smile on my face. icon_biggrin.gif
And stop reminding everyone that it is a "murder mystery!" Let some of us enjoy the moment of the crime. icon_cool.gif

The victim and the murderer will be a part of a plot agreed upon by the writers no doubt. I'm sure we will hear a number of scenarios...turns, twists, suspects, RJ members mentioned, ... more I'm sure....

But if he isn't available, would you mind standing in? (again, on paper of course. (wink wink)) Other than the name, the description still works; Gay hypocritical shameful repuGlican!

No, no, no...I'm writing myself in as the CuriousJock-turned-Hollywood power broker representing hot new talent, G-Force, fielding offers from magazines all over the world clamoring to put him on the cover while negotiating with a major studio who wants him to the play the lead in the remake of "American Gigolo". Sorry, gotta run, Paramount Studios on the other line icon_lol.gif

I think he bludgeoned JettSetter to death with that giant dildo!
...or by incessantly berating him... one or the other.
