Since the Grammy's are ridiculously biased in favor of mainstream music.... what five albums do you think should be nominated for Best Album in 2009? Mine picks are, in no particular order: St. Vincent - "Actor"AUTOMATICALLY DOWNLOADS WHEN LINK IS CLICKED "Actor Out of Work" http://www.mediafire.com/file/ko0zdayjimg/01-st._vincent-actor_out_of_work.mp3- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Sparklehorse - "Dark Night of The Soul"COPY & PASTE UNDERLINED PORTION INTO BROWSER TO HEAR "Jaykub" http://tapasntapas.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/Danger_Mouse_And_Sparklehorse-Jaykub_(feat_Jason_Lytle).mp3- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Grizzly Bear - "Veckatimest"COPY & PASTE UNDERLINED PORTION INTO BROWSER TO HEAR "Cheerleader" http://sixeyesmedia.com/mp3/mixnvmbr30/05%20cheerleader.mp3- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Bob Dlyan - "Together Through Life"COPY & PASTE UNDERLINED PORTION INTO BROWSER TO HEAR "Beyone Here Lies Nothing" http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/2/28/833945/01%20Beyond%20Here%20Lies%20Nothing.mp3- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Monsters of Folk - "Monsters of Folk"COPY & PASTE UNDERLINED PORTION INTO BROWSER TO HEAR "Dear God" http://tympanogram.com/files/Monsters-Of-Folk-Dear-God-%28sincerely%20M.O.F.%29.mp3It was a damn good year for music.

Blueprint 3...only half of it was spectacular. Honestly, I feel Kid Cudi's Man on the Moon was better crafted. There was a TON of awesome music in 2009. It's just very little of it was mainstream or heard by the vast majority of consumers.

So many good picks in this thread, Grizzly Bear, Kid Cudi, The xx, etc.
I'll throw my support behind a couple, though they don't have a snowball's chance in hell. Great albums though.
The Avett Brothers - I and Love and You Atlas Sound - Logos Basement Jaxx - Scars The Temper Trap - Conditions Mos Def - The Ecstatic
Honestly, none would get nominated, I don't even know how they choose the nominees. Was there another Herbie Hancock album this year?

Maxwell - BLACKsummers Night
Kelly Clarkson -- All I Ever Wanted
Pink - Funhouse
Mariah Carey - Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel - (I am a huge Mariah fan, so I have to include her. She could take a shit on a cd and I would think it's a masterpiece!)

MOAIA`s release date didn`t make the deadline for this year`s nomination. So only Obsessed would have a shot. I think a lot of you guys forgot that the album of the year category usually covers all the main music styles, so it would be like 1 rock, 1 pop, 1 country & 1 R&B,etc.

I do remember reading about that when they pushed back the release date! either way. The album is still pretty good. HATEU is possibly one of my all time favorite songs, ever!

Regina Spektor's Far needs to be in there somewhere, too. There isn't a single song on that album that isn't either a joy to listen to or a real creative musical feat of awesomeness.
