Just saw a couple of Gawker articles on this new MTV show, Jersey Shore:

What is it with good-looking guys and no-brains-required, guilty pleasure TV? Can't we, please, get some TV that stimulates the head above and the head below at the same time? A kind of Discovery/National Geographic with fit men who are either shirtless or in flattering clothes?

wow it looks like they picked a random group of people in seaside heights and followed them for the summer. i'm from jersey (northern jersey, what up) and never understood the all the crap that goes on there, or the appeal of it for that matter.

I didn't know that *they* know about this:

At least I assume that based on the 'fist pumping' part.

Jager bombs? I fuckin' shower in that shit.

Exactly. I never really knew that this kind of thing actually existed until I went out in New York. But it is hilarious.

And you are my hero for posting the second one - I'd never seen it, but taking on Ed Hardy and Axe in one fell swoop? Priceless. I couldn't stop laughing.

I have a hard time accepting that this may all be real. Are people REALLY like this? Maybe it's a little exaggerated since they are on camera. Who knows? I don't get why these people think they are so good looking. The last guy was fat

Again, I had a hard time believing it until I went to the Meat Packing District in New York. And boy howdy was it ever to the letter the same. I don't disbelieve these people an iota. And the last guy was not fat - come on.

    NEWSFLASH:

Realty based programming such as "Jersey Shore" is NOT real whatsoever. It is a carefully created and executed concept to generate advertising dollars while gifting "15 mins of fame" to young people with mainstream appeal to their respective demographic.

    End scene.

For those of you who think this isn't real. I envy you so much. It's real and honestly the cast they have shown so far seem totally laid back for the dirty jerz shore crowd!

Until I saw that video, I thought the "popped collar" fad was just some mythical fashion faux pas. Now I know better...and am slightly worse off for it.

(I still say the guys are cute though icon_biggrin.gif )

Its funny that virtually all of the cast is not from Jersey. I used to love Seaside when I was a kid and a teenager and still go down there for the kitsch factor and Midway Sausage sandwiches once or twice a year. The place was always sleazy and there were always guidos but they just dressed differently in the 80s..no shaving, no plucking eyebrows, no fist pumps and they wore zubaz pants

Still while there are guidos in New Jersey especially down the Seaside/Belmar area they arent as big a population at the media would like to portray.

I love Jersey, been here all my life, we are unique, we are tons of misfits thrown together, all different types crammed into a tiny state between Philly and New York City. We have the hottest guys in the country and wouldnt live anywhere else
