Homosexuals and transsexuals "will never enter the kingdom of heaven", a leading Roman Catholic cardinal said.

Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan said that while the Church regarded homosexuality as an "insult to God", this did not justify discrimination against gay and transsexual people.

"Transsexuals and homosexuals will never enter the kingdom of heaven and it is not me who says this, but Saint Paul," the cardinal said, in comments reported by the Ansa news agency.

"People are not born homosexual, they become homosexual, for different reasons: education issues or because they did not develop their own identity during adolescence. It may not be their fault, but acting against nature and the dignity of the human body is an insult to God," he said.

Barragan, the retired head of the Vatican's Council for Pastoral Assistance to Health Care Workers, quoted a passage from Paul's epistle to the Romans which speaks of "men committing indecent acts with other men".

"Homosexuality is therefore a sin, but this does not justify any form of discrimination. God alone has the right to judge," the cardinal said.

"We on earth cannot condemn, and as human beings we all have the same rights."

Something that the followers of the Pauline branch of Christianity might be interested in knowing, is that Saint Paul deliberately corrupted Christ's teachings to suit the needs of a state religion that supported a privilege-based society - which caused the few direct followers of Christ left at the time to declare him a heretic, and excommunicate him from the church.

That man's teachings have no value whatsoever, especially because it has been proven that he was far from chaste in his youth, and wasn't exactly the womanizing type in his wild child days, if we understand each other. He also lied and preached his own personal Gospel to gain relevance. The Dead Sea Scrolls, in fact, state very clearly that he is not to be considered a part of the church.

lol, what an ass he's being. He should spend more time reading Cor 1:13 , perhaps writing it 1,000 times on a blackboard for good measure.

It's so frustrating you want to either scream or start laughing.

Show me the evidence. What about all those priests who have and are molesting children today? Do they have a one way ticket to heaven?

Wow, that's pretty hateful. I was born and raised Catholic and received a Catholic education. My dad says that gays will have to answer to God somedayicon_sad.gif

Ha, screw both of their opinions.

    He is correct.
    There is no heaven.
So, we'd better make the best of it, right here, for as long as we're alive.

See its morons like that that do not see christ in all things. They go out and reject and beat down. What a tool. Oh well.... Im sorry I'll keep the advice once given to me by a priest to just ask and I would receive my answer so bluntly and so plainly that there will be no way for me to deny it. I have that reasons and I thank God for him every day. Even though the ups and downs... Ive only grown to love him more.

The Catholic Church has just really been making all the "douchebag comments of the day" lately...all over gay people. Never mind poverty, never mind priest abuse, never mind war, it's the gays. The gays are the problems we need to focus our attention on. icon_rolleyes.gif

This is helpful, cause I've always had difficulty deciding which heaven I liked best.

    The Baha'i hierarchy of souls...

The 13 levels of the Nahua people (Chichimecs, Toltecs, Aztecs)...

Eternal rule by a Messiah King on Earth in Orthodox Christianity...

The judgement, angels and saints of Catholic heaven (love that Catholic judgement)...

The Jehova's Witness' 144,000 chosen faithful followers ruling over the Earth alongside King Jesus Christ (love that precise count)...

The Celestial, Terrestrial, and Telestrial Kingdom's of the Mormon's, with the whole reuniting with your entire extended family stuff (yikes!)...

The Bhuva Loka, Swarga Loka, Mahar Loka, Jana Loka, Tapa Loka, Satya Loka, of the Hindus, with all the multitudes of Hindu gods...

The gold, jewelry, bitchin clothes, and immortally pure concubines of Islam (this one is up there in the top, I must say, especially that concubine part!)...

The completely undocumented Jewish heaven (I look at this one like Monty Hall's "door number 3")...

The "coconut crust" of the Polynesian heaven (I vote this one most "cute")...

Oh, so many heavens to choose from, I just can't decide. So I'm glad the Catholics eliminated that one for me. It's like they crossed off an item on a big Chinese restaurant menu with way too many pages.

Ah, what the heck, I'll probably just take hell, it's warmer there, so more shirtless guys, probably.

Why do so many people feel the need to add their opinions to the Bible? It says in there that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God... then Jesus talks an awful lot about grace. Yeah, homosexuality, in the Bible, is a sin... just like adultery, fornication, lying, etc. To make a blanket statement that all homosexuals will not be in heaven is like saying all liars will not be in heaven. So its a good thing the Bible teaches that God is just and fair and not like these idiot catholic preachers that add their opinionated twists to the scriptures to scare people from a sin that they think is worse than their own.

So what happens to the bisexual guys? They are accepted in heaven, because they saw some pussy after all?

Please, if gay guys were to go in heaven, then heaven had to be with dimmed lightning, plenty of beer and a regular supply of condoms.
So thanks, but no thanks - we are not interested in a boring, cloudy hippie-land.

I'd rather go to Rio de Janeiro. It looks like heaven but you can have a hell of a time.

I agree... I don't understand why the media keep giving these people a public voice. Is it because it's entertaining to hear crazy peoples' opinion on everything...?

The only "heaven" this fucktard will ever know happens under his cassock when a young boy's parents aren't watching, so, he's right, we'll never go there.

You have a funny definition of natural, by that logic infertility is unnatural.

To take the religious path, the presence of homosexuality in animals devoid of free will demonstrates that homosexuality is in fact natural.

To take the logical path, anything arising out of an individuals nature is natural, thus, as it is in my nature to be attracted to men, and not to force myself into celibacy, surely the suppression of my homosexuality would be the unnatural course.
