No, just the Republicans who are in charge of the party, and set party policy. Public positions which anyone can read, and see that officially, the Republican Party represents precisely the things you mention.
Are ALL Republicans that way? No, many individuals are not. But those who call themselves Republicans do so in support of a political party that officially strives for the denial of civil rights to gays. I could mention other moral & Constitutional offenses of the Republican Party, but for this audience I'd like to confine the discussion to gay issues.
As someone here in another thread noted, gays did not set out to attack Republicans without provocation or cause. The Republican Party has waged a war against gays, using us to advance their political agenda. Can you deny the Karl Rove strategy? Putting anti-gay measures on the election ballot, especially in 2004, to energize and bring out the right-wing base. This is fact.
So when I have no sympathy or understanding for gays who support the Republican Party, I'm sure you can appreciate my rationale. If a political party wishes to destroy me, and a gay man supports that party, does he not also aid in my destruction? How can one interpret it otherwise?
