    Serious-ish.
I'm 180 5'9" and need to lose some weight, but I get bored while doing cardio.
So, how do you guys make the time go by? Does listening to music help, or is it just as boring?

Music gets me by my cardio always. But then again I listen to music all through the day, are you such a big sucker for it?
You can make it interesting by making it a game or challenge. Like run with a friend and bet on small things.
When I run alone: I make it a challenge to beat my own previous best time. If I do that I give myself a treat. Or imagine a race and put urself with 5 people who are better than you. Try breaking into top three. Well this will only work if you are as cuckoo as me icon_smile.gif.
Also other than your own determination nothing can help you get by it.

Do cardio at home on the stationary bike and use my laptop on a laptop table to read forums on RJ and do writing as well. I do cardio 2x daily for an hour each time...

Get outside. Go to the HS track and run some hard 100's 200's and 400's or run a few miles along a path in the woods.

Indoor cardio equipment can make a workout feel interminable. A three mile jog on a treadmill can feel more like a marathon. The best thing for boredom is fresh air and the sound of your breath and footsteps.

i get bored with cardio alot my latest try at it as this
what i am doing now is jump on a machine and do 15-20 mts and then jump to a tred mill and do another 15-20 mts then hop on a bike and do another 15 mts
all back to back with out resting
it breaks my 45mts to an hour cardio routine, it makes it go faster somehow
also i play some fast upbeat trance music to keep up with beat and get heart rate up
sometimes i play tv shows or movies on my ipod while i am on the bike

A lot of people work out with a partner and talk to each other, talk on the phone (but they r always yelling really) - read - do homework or other work.
My brother listens to books on tape while he's driving and working out. Classes, with some instructor screaming at you are good. I just look at the other people & daydream.

Get an IPod and load is up with music that gets you pumped. Mine is filled with techno and dance, which makes my cardio fly by.

Music- yes all the time. Hot dance tunes for me and angry singing divas, like Debra Cox and Whitney Houston, Any other suggestions are welcome.
Also- try doing a circuit for cardio. Start with 10 mins of running, then 10 mins of cycling, then 10 mins of skipping or doing plyometrics (sp?)

You can do different runs around the track too: short sprints for 10 mins, jog normal pace for 10 more etc.

    Good luck.

I'll try jumping from machine to machine, and I guess I'll buy some headphones. I tried reading, but I kept dripping all over it. Not pretty.
My ipod is a 1st gen which does not have bluetooth.
    I had these before:

    But I'm thinking about buying:

    I hate earbuds.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

Mix up the cardio - 10 mins on the treadmill, 10 on the bike, 10 on the rower, etc.

    Take up a sport.

Do a class e.g. cycle class.

Interval. 2 mins run on the treadmill, 2 mins walk, etc etc.

    Music helps.
