The BF Speaks: "OPINION VS. FACT"

My partner "Will" was watching "Face the Nation" and asked me, "if you have no factual basis for an argument, are you qualified to give an opinion on the subject"? This brings up the subject of argument without factual evidence and do people argue or give opinions just to have opinions heard?
    (LOL)

Will says, "Think before you speak, opinions are like assholes..., "

The problem with this opinion is: ask him to explain what is meant by a "fact".

Not enough people read philosophy these days :-(

Think of all the people who would be out of a job if they didn't parade around opinion disguised as facts.

Talk show hosts, political "inside the beltway" types, experts, "researchers", roundtable discussion dorks, "washington insiders".

There is TV cable time to fill, advertisers dollars to be made, paid speaking engagements , stockholders to pay, and ratings to be made.

It would be interesting to find out whose pocket they are in, who really pays them and the reality of who they really represent.

I'm a big believer in conspiracy theories. These people are spewing out their bullshit to keep us arguing about trival stuff, half truths, and empty patriotic slogans so that the real issues are hidden, bank accounts and corporate profits are secure and these people are laughing all the way to the bank.

All this is happening as we suck it up and make silly arguments about democratic vs republican.

There are also several people who don't fully comprehend what they just read which can lead to misinformation and misunderstanding of both opinions and facts.

Since when are BFs allowed to speak, or have an opinion?

Australian Beer (VB) rules over American beer, that looks like it's already passed though the body; and thats a fact.

    My thoughts exactly.....

Unfortunately we've become a society of self importance.. my opinion must be heard..

Although that is only my opinion that I have expressed and I have no factual evidence to back it up with... well... you could just turn on the tv to prove my point but then I wouldn't have been able to drone on like this endlessly about absolutely nothing now would I!

We all have opinions; some are stated with facts and some are just what they are meant to be, an opinion.
We take what we get out of the question or situation and express how we feel, whether fact or not. Be honest.

I think people are allowed to have opinions without knowing facts. The problem becomes when these people aren't willing to change their opinions when presented with the facts.

There are also people who rely on "facts" to the exclusion of other types of knowing, in a way that ultimately cripples their ability to fully understand a situation.
