Is the title misleading? No. Pun intended? Yes.

Anyways, I was wondering if someone could sympathize with me on a topic.

I am very picky about the kind of ball that we play with.

What is the leather on the ball like? Is it even real leather? Is the ball light is it heavy? Is the ball soft or hard?

Depending on the type of ball can actually interfere with how I play at least I try to not let it. Can anyone else relate?

I can, finding a good ball makes all the difference. Some of the balls in my league can be really hard, especially when they are hit by some of the more powerful players. My arms get really red by the end of the night. I've even had a few bruises.

Yeah heh. I'm no volleyball playa but even when the ball is nice, firm and smooth, you just start feeling the pain in your forearms, like inside of them. But then again no one plays with soft balls, right?

It seems most of the tournaments use the Molten ball (cheapest) but the Mikasa blue and white "Olympics" ball is my favorite to hit, I can make that one float easier than any other so our Club, VOILA http://lagayvolleyball.com/

Uses the Mikasa at open gym and our tournaments.
The Tachakara Gold is my other fav,

balls come in all shape, sizes, weights, contours... the important thing is that you play with them at least once to figure out if you like them or not. It's all about personal preference... and hygiene.

Yeah, and definitely sans hair for me. Large & loose are other pluses.

I'm a Tachikara guy myself. The important part is getting the proper inflation level. Either too much or too little will leave you sore.

I always hate new balls whether full leather or synthetic until they are broken in for a year. I love nice firm, but heavy worked in balls indoors and out. Great for passing.

if i'm playing sand 2-man, i prefer a "heavier" ball. much more control.

There's a big difference between the college and professional ball. They're shaped a bit differently and have a different feel to them. A lot of guys can't work with either and prefer small kid sized balls that are easier to grip. That just seems wrong since it makes things too easy. Man up and use the full size, professional ball and chuck it over here in a tight spiral.

personally, i prefer firm balls. If their somewhat deflated they dont bounce up and down as easily. Play with those.
