So at christmas parties it's often the rule rather than the exception, that scandalous behaviour or the like will happen. Please share your stories.

I've got a story from this weekend, that left me baffled, amused and a little sad at the same time.

So we're having a christmas party with people from my judo club. people bring their better halves or friends and some parents to judo kids come as well.
It's custom to eat and especially drink a lot, and that's when strange things start to happen. I'm being friendly and dance with some of the women at the party and suddenly I find myself getting hit on by a (tipsy) WOMAN who's in a judo class I teach (she tried to kiss me too icon_eek.gif ). but that's not the strange part, though I am thinking OMG she doesn't know I'm gay, which is a little amusing, since a bunch of people know and I sorta assumed she did too.
BUT here's the sad part... Her husband is also in the judo club and present at the party, which made me feel a bit sorry for him, cos he's a really nice guy. He was drunk too so I'm sure he didn't notice his wife acting out of line (and I actually think HE knows I'm gay LOL funny icon_confused.gif ).
I kinda let it pass, thinking she's just being drunk and stupid, and she sensed I wasn't returning her approaches.
And then she texted me this morning asking if I thought she'd been out of line. I said I thought she was, and I told her that I'm also gay, just to make that clear.
Lucky for her in a way... that she didn't get at one of the straight guys, who might take the bait, with her husband present.
Anyway, I'll just let it go and do nothing.
Sometimes you just see sides of people you wish you hadn't.

Be thankful his wife wasn't as raunchy as this one (only clip of this I could find, with music edit that's not as good as original film score from Priscilla):

And still thinking about any Christmas parties from Hell, can't remember having any, or hearing of them from friends.

I had taken my bf to a couple of parties, both of which were remarkably boring. I'm always amazed at people who have a "party", invite a bunch of people who have no connections many times... they are just a jumble of friends of the host. The group tried to mingle and many end up having a difficult time...

Having said that, it can also work if you have some outgoing people that make the others feel at home with their outgoing behavior. I've seen both.
Its always great to be invited to a party where you know a number of people and meet new ones in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

No wild events over the last couple of years, but I had several several years back. At the Christmas of 2002, I was at the home of a acquaintance and he was taking me out back to show me his dog.. a basset and went through his garage. We were chatting as we walked through the garage and heard some noise and became aware of a couple of guests having sex in the far corner of the garage behind some stuff. The host was a little put off, I could tell he wasn't really happy about it and for a minute I was at a loss as to what to say. All was cool after a minute. We went on and I couldn't help but laugh and made some jokes about something else and within a couple of minutes we were laughing about what happened in the garage. I never found out who it was back there.......

Well one Army staff office did have a tradition that got always a few people in trouble. It was a 2-star command (Major General), and I was just a lowly Major at the time, among all those Colonels and Lt. Colonels on the General's staff.

And every year one of the civilian employees would bring in this "secret recipe" punch he made, that we all knew was about 80% alcohol, even though technically it wasn't allowed on duty in the office. He privately claimed it had about 6 different alcoholic ingredients, and whether true or not, it packed a mule kick.

So we'd have our office holiday party with a food buffet, and lots of cakes & cookies, and a few guys would hit that punch bowl too hard (we also had a non-alocholic one). The more senior officers knew our careers depended on our exhibiting restraint in front of our superiors, so we might sip, but not dare dive in, like some of the Sergeants did to their later shame.

We'd smile at some of their antics, if they stayed within reasonable bounds (for soldiers), but gross behavior was not tolerated. I remember seeing a Lt. Colonel get unacceptably shit-faced at an Officer's banquet with spouses another time (an affair I had planned, incidentally, at a 3-star command), and within a month he was forced to retire, his boss with wife present having being offended. No, excessive alcohol at public parties was something you knew to avoid like a frontal assault on an impregnable enemy position. icon_razz.gif

Okay this is kind of a lame story, but sorta funny.

When I was in New York, we had an office Christmas party and a gift exchange where you brought in a present, and at the start of the party, you drew a number from 1 to 16 (it was a small office). When your number was called you got to pick any of the presents that anyone brought in. I had #3, and I, very proudly, snatched up the biggest of the lot..... which turned out to be a twelve-roll pack of toilet paper when I opened it in front of everyone. icon_redface.gif

Did this cure you of your obsession with big packages?

Basically, yes. It also cured me of my desire to grab for them.

During one of my first years of real employment, the company I worked for had a Christmas party at a trendy venue, nicely decorated - they spent the $$$ that year.

I also had a buddy of mine hired during that year, so He, my ex bf at the time, and myself along with a couple of other coworkers went to the party - and there was a little bit of alcohol to be had - and I think some of the people also found their way into the washroom with our Executive Director who was snorting coke..

So needless to say - my ex bf and my friend were found hooked up in the washroom later on - it was the most embarrassing situation I'd ever been in ... and it basically resulted in the dissolution of our relationship.

I look back and it was quite funny - and probably the best thing that could have happened - it got me onto bigger and better things icon_smile.gif

For the first time, I'm going to the company Christmas party, because it's a luncheon here at work on Friday and not the usual Saturday night shindig at the Sheraton.
