Weird Laptop Problem

Ok so I will never drink anything over my laptop again.

Basically I spilled a tiny bit of water on my laptop touchpad and the thing wouldn't work for hours. So I got pissed off yelled curse words, turned the computer on and off, blah, blah, blah.

Well at least it works now, The weird thing, however, is that the touchpad works backwards! WTH. At least it works, but I feel like I'm using a mirror.

Should I just buy an external mouse since that's probably a cheaper solution.

Let it dry out some more and see what happens.
(Also, check in the control panel pointing device driver to see if you can reverse the field.)

uninstall your touchpad on the hardware settings and reboot your computer, itll automatically run the drivers again for you and probably fix your little mirror issue.

also next time that happens, stop freaking out and just let it dry

Dry it out by placing it in a 400 degree oven for 45 minutes.

Actually, putting it in an oven set to "keep warm" might actually help. Just not a microwave.

Who would think a touch pad would be so touchy. I have had the same problem. Unless I clean the liquid up quickly then I will have problems for a while. It has resolved its self over time but I can't say it will happen for everyone else. I would use a mouse.

If you spill something on your laptop, for goodness sakes turn it off immediately and let it dry first. Same thing with immersed cellphones, ipods whatever.

If it's plugged in, unplug it. Remove the battery, wipe it off as best as you can. If you can, open it up and wipe the parts off individually. Then go take a walk somewhere while it dries completely. Most of the damage is done by short circuits, especially in case of water spillage which leaves no residue when it dries.
