I've got to hand it to Rachel for being calm during this interview. She let him state his belief, and held him responsible for how his books are being used to promote killing people.

Good for Richard Cohen to publicly denounce the Ugandan anti-gay legislation, and the notion that you can pray the gay away. What he and others of his ilk fail to see, is no matter how much you say you promote love for all humanity regardless of sexuality; when you start using words like "choice" and "change" you're still promoting the belief that homosexuality is something wrong.

When an "expert" starts using things like divorce and race (wtf) as factors of homosexuality, the fraud alarms should sound! Since more than half of marriages end in divorce, there should be a lot more gay people in America alone. Actually since there is only one "race" of people, I guess it IS a factor; people are generally attracted to other....people. Imagine that!

You should have seen the video excerpts Rachel showed the day before of a man cuddled by another man in an infantile manner as part of the curing process. It was blood-curdling!

This guy talks out of both sides of his mouth and his ass!

I'd say I want to marry Rachel and have her babies... but I fear that might be mistaken (by some) as "proof" that this jerk is right.

That is truly mind boggling. It's obvious that man has no clue what the hell he is talking about HALF of the time. He didn't even recognize quotes from his own books. He only answered one question straight forward. It is certainly hard to understand how people could believe him whole heartedly.

I was thinking more about that this morning and then it hit me. How in the world was he so unaware about his writing of race as a factor in sexual "choice" but he stated that it was already removed in the 3rd edition rewrite? This guy has no regards for credibility, facts and responsibility. That is just downright criminal!

Richard Cohen just lost what little credibility he had (thank you Rachel). His work is not evidence based at all, nor based on facts. Maybe by race, he meant the 'human race.' Stupid f**k.

I watched that interview, and I enjoyed her professionalism. It just makes me sad that we even need to put him on a show like that to call him out on his ridiculous lies. icon_evil.gif

I watched the video also, and perhaps this chap Richard Cohen may have a point.
Nobody is BORN gay. That is absolute nonsense! And nobody is FORCED in to a same-sex relationship. Each enters into it purely by choice.
Or else why does the Bible say that all who practice homosexuality will burn forever in Hell?

"Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. (So it was by choice then.) Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion."
    Romans 1:26-27.

"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."
    1 Corinthians 6:9-10.

"It is appointed for all men to die but once, after this the judgement..."
    Hebrews 9:27

"Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which was the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the book. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. If any one's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."
    Revelation 20:11-15.

If one was born gay, then these verses above would be extremely unfair, and bloody cruel, to say the least. It would be exactly like saying that one with Down's Syndrome is condemned to Hell simply because he was born with an extra chromosome in his cells, and couldn't help being the way he was.
Why is practicing homosexuality so condemned in the Bible? Isn't it because it is a choice of lifestyle rather than a genetic or other birth defect?

    Yet the Bible also says:

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that who ever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (ie goes to Heaven after death)
    John 3:16.

"Whoever believes in (Jesus) is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already BECAUSE he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."
    John 3:18.

"And this is the testimony, God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life."
    1 John 5:11-12.

You must really have a conflict of interests being on a website of gay men and loathing homosexuality at the same time.

ActiveAndFit saidYou must really have a conflict of interests being on a website of gay men and loathing homosexuality at the same time.

    That is not true.
Tim Lahaye in his book, "The Unhappy Gays" testifies of ex-gays becoming straight, and researchers have found no link between homosexuality and genetics, something which is also backed by the Wikipedia page, "Homosexuality". There is nothing wrong or different in the physical makeup of a homo to that of straights.
But reading books on the subject is one thing, personal experience is quite another. I DO recall, quite clearly, being attracted to females only when I was a child. Early masturbation and sexual fantasy as a boy, and I began to visualise images of boys as well as girls as I grew older. But as for same sex per se, that is sodomy, or anal intercourse, fellatio etc, I have not allowed my sexual fantasy to enroach on these because I had no natural desire to do so.
When at college in 1970, I met a student with whom we became firm friends. One day in 1971, he took me out into a remote spot and there he wanted to smooch - mouth-to-mouth kissing as straights do. I didn't respond to his desire and after that our friendship cooled (but there was never any emnity). Some time after this, he met a woman, fell in love, married and fathered two sons. Who would ever thought that he had a gay streak in him?
Does this mean that I have no attraction for men at all?
No, because I still feel attracted to men to this day, else I wouldn't be on this site. But reading the Bible, I get the impression that is is the actual sex with a same sex partner which is condemned, rather than just the attraction.
Sex acts is a matter of choice. No one is forced into it.
Was I bound for Hell? Yes. Would I had faced the judgement of God? Yes.
Am I better than any member here at Realjock? By no means! I would have ended up in Hell alongside any atheist or agnostic. Did I manage to work and earn my salvation? God forbid!
I'm saved by God's grace only through believing in Christ.
