Probably a lot more gay boxers out there then we can imagine. I love the sport though I am not that proficient at my skills.

You're too modest John... you did great. Had a blast! Can't wait for next year when I can show off my protege's. Train hard they'll make you work.

I was boxing when I was a teenager, and also was in the marine corps martial arts program.

Dude, you would ROCK in the heavyweight and cause some major damage! Definitely get back in it!

Used to instruct Taekwondo, and took Hapkido, grappling, Eskrima, and pressure point tactics, switched over and mainly boxing now, though I still practice other skills, a bit rusty I'm sure.

Made my own heavy bag, 165lbs. Love it, great weight for kicking also.

Cool, but I've stopped that habit. It's frowned upon.

Sometimes that's the only place you get a gay guy to fight you... It's hard to get the few that are out there to fight you in a ring.

Just joined this lovely community. WOW! I thought I was alone here...

One can only imagine how frustrated I am. Being the only one practice boxing among my friends (gay or not).

Have been practicing MuayThai and Boxing for four years. Will keep doing it for years to come. Just love it!

Had a pro fight scheduled this spring but got cancelled. Another amatuer fight for "older guys" this June but I was injured a week before the fight. Guess getting into the ring was something I am not ready for, yet. ha!

My coach taught me to do Kettlebell + TRX combo training since this spring. Been doing it for months and I absolutely love it! Boxers and MMA fighters should at least give them a try!

I am old (39) to fight in the ring, but that does not stop me to keep training. This is one thing I am sure I can do it for life. icon_biggrin.gif

My friend you are never too old. I didn't start boxing till I was 29. Been training and sparring for 12 years. I've fought beginners, amateurs, toughmen and pros and held my own. Even KO'd a heavyweight. I'm currently the Captain of the Master's Boxing team at my gym and we get regular matches each year, so it's never too late. Keep doing what you love!

I was hoping some of the other guys would chime in and ask, but alas such is not to be. And considering I'm a leader and not a follower, I'll do what I always do and step up.

What's the deal SoDakGuy? What's got you down?

Happy hump day Tech, did you intend this comment about me [Mark]?. I had a great time at BBBB2010 but as you can see I don't have anyone near me to practice with, my gym strictly does kickboxing now and that's why I pretty much suck. I always manage to do fairly good in the tough man contests that I participate in, but there it's fast paced and I tend to be a bit more conscious and relaxed when I fight in them.

Hey dude, you're not to old to box, I am 55 and still get in the ring and box 20 and 30 year olds in tough man contests, I may suck but I enjoy the action and don't really care if I win or lose.

Obviously, the people have changed in class and I'm not in the latest pic. My fault. I want to box, but this summer I've been slacking immensely. It's like I'm letting other people dictate what I should do and I really haven't done a damn thing for me since Feb really.

I really need a huge push. Sorry, I sound a little sad and whiny and that's never been me.

aye, I train on and off. And I hear what you're saying. having a gym partner helps immensely. Mine flaked out on me which kinda killed my drive the past month. nut in the end you gotta just kick yourself in the ass and drag yourself in.

I had an amazing practice. I gotta stop being gun shy sparring, but I got a few good hits & took quite a few hits to my stomach and still kept going.

    I'm proud of myself.
