Okay... How the FUCK did he get nominated?!

    Recording Academy's response
The Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Awards have a long history of supporting freedom of speech and creative expression, and of supporting artists and the music they create. Artists of a variety of political or cultural perspectives have been nominated or featured on the telecast, despite protests and backlash. The Academy acknowledges that there are very strong and diverse opinions on many issues and in many instances, we have helped initiate dialogue on matters that require education and further discussion. It takes tolerance to teach tolerance, and it is through dialogue and debate that social discovery may occur. The GRAMMY Awards is a celebration and recognition of outstanding musical achievement by music makers, regardless of politics, and that will continue to be our mission.

Yeah right. In the name of freedom of speech we should also start awarding and encouraging Nazi propaganda songs. They were kinda nice.

What's sadder is that this probably IS propaganda. Meant to draw controversy and spark more interest in the Grammy's. And they're trading away people's lives for money. People have already been brutally killed in Jamaica. So yeah...

Wow. Glad I read these things sometimes. I used to listen to this guy Blindly. But it appears he's been a hater since I was 6! Thanks for the heads up. I signed the petition, and added This letter:

This really is a shame. As a lover of reggae and hip-hop music alike, I used to LOVE Buju as a teen, but, AS MANY OF US PROBABLY DO, I didn't always pay close attention to All of the lyrics involved in making this asshole rich and famous. Luckily, the only albums of his I bought were from a Used CD Store, and I paid 4.99 and .99 cents. Sucks to have a talented performer (of sorts) who believes it his job to use his voice to preach popular regional hatred. To You, Buju Banton, a long, stiff pecker down your throat, and I hope you choke on it you hateful piece of shit. There's a song that rapper Common wrote about changing his mind about gays after a close friend came out to him, and it sometimes makes me shed a tear. Take a note from Common, and learn to love those that love, and love alike. I'm sure the millions (okay, let's be honest, hundreds) of gay fans you USED to have will be happy to accept your admission of complete ignorance as an apology. Till then, Thank You for bringing even more attention to the hateful and hurtful discrimination being ignored by your country every day. We're sending Little Richard out there to kick your ass.

unbelievable... sanctioned hate, I can't believe he was nominated.
The venues he plays at seem to always get boycotted when he plays in SF so his shows usually are canceled here... unfortunately it doesn't seem to be the status quo.

    On the rise......

Like I told you I was slammed by youtube and I got a lot of hate mail from many who are on youtube with big following. I told youtube they were nothing more than a corporate begging (for adevrtisements) company and only wanted things that fit in their vanilla Christian right box.
