My first boyfriend was named James and I was in a five year relationship with a guy named Jim.

The only time it was ever weird was when people kept asking us if it was weird.

People named Jim and James are hot and interesting, and so it's only natural that we would want to date each other. Case in point: MunchingZombie.

Occasionally we like to spread around the love and date other, less fortunately named guys. They can be very hot, too, but they have to try harder.

I'm easily confused, so that's one mark in the "con" column. However, so many people call me various other things that are very clearly NOT my name that it might not matter. One mark in the "pro" column.

But think of it this way: if you got married, it would really simplify the name fusion.

Might seem odd during sex and they say your name.

Also seriously, how often do we actually say our own names? When I say my name, it doesn't feel like my name, it's unfamiliar because we don't go about calling ourselves by our own nicknames/names. If I use it on another guy, I wouldn't even think twice about it. So yeah, what's so weird about that? icon_razz.gif

I'd never date someone with my name.
    Dunno just would be odd.
And there is no real reasoning behind it

Been there, done that. It's funny and kinky in a way, but I prefer dating guys with a different name.

Still, it doesn't have to be a deal breaker. I just met a couple that have been together for 8 years. They're both named Robert.

I had to friends who dated for 10 years they were both named Frank, we called them "The Franks" of course. Frank & Frankie
My niece Alex is dating a guy who we adore named Alex.
I've met a handful of Joaquin's in my life but if I had the opportunity to date one I probably would just for the entertainment value.

Kind of trying to now... though we spell it differently. I have a "y" and he uses an "i." I don't think I'd have an issue with it. I think it would be more of a problem for friends of ours who call us or talk to us and have to differentiate between us.

But hey, at least I'd never forget his name! hahaha

Why? I don't think many people refer to themselves in the third person often while having sex. Lol. icon_rolleyes.gif

So let me get this straight. You meet a guy who is everything you've ever wanted. You're both totally smitten by one another BUT he has your name. So you politely tell him you can't date him for that reason. 50 years later during a lonely Christmas, you realize you have never met anyone like him since him. If only you could have overcome the fact that he had the same name as your. And you thought there were so many fish in the sea, so why bother with one who was given the same name as yours.

But then what if you also say your/his name? It's so odd.

I have friends who are a couple, both are named Robert, and both go by the name Bob. We call them Bob 1 and Bob 2. I NEVER understood why one wouldn't start going by Rob or Bobby or Robert or SOMETHING different. I hate calling them Bob 1 and Bob 2.

My longest, most special relationship was with a man named Joey. Joe and Joey... We were together for 1 1/2 years. I will always hold a special place in my heart for him.
