This show is great. I wish I watched it regularly. I'll probably end up buying the DVD box sets and watch it from beginning to end.

Insane finale!!!! Lived totally to the hype. Perhaps the best season thus far; John Lithgow definitely earns award consideration.

I still haven't seen this series but have heard a ton about it! I just need to go to Blockbuster and rent the individual seasons. I heard this show totally kicks ass!

OK. I'm going to rent it!.......

If you have Netflix, I think they have the first season available for streaming.

Oh fuck yes; I totally agree there.

And I think that last moment was a dream/vision/Dexter's imagination, all because of the lighting. I'm sure not, but...whatever. I really want the freaking books now.

Hmm...I didn't realize that. It would be a huge disappointment if the writers of the show brush the story arc as a dream of sorts.

I'm pretty sure they won't do that, but the lighting in the scene is just so reminiscent of when he's speaking with his father. It makes me think it's all in his imagination.

Athlete61 saidAmazing season finale! I'm amazed how many twists this show has been able to serve up every season so far. I've been a Michael C. Hall fan since "Six Feet Under".

Me too! Michael is an amazing actor.

...and I miss Six Feet Under!

Hopefully next season will involve a serial killer that attacks the specific Miami PD department Dexter works in... killing all to most of his co-workers up to and including his sister, who is probably an okay actor, but is about as 2-D a character as anyone would be able to find.

Dexter finally killed Trinity, but, Trinity had the last laugh. Now, Dexter can get back to some regular killing. LOL.

We were glued to Showtime for all of the series, as usual. Nothing like Dexter in 1080p on FIOS.

John Lithgow really was great as Trinity. He's just an excellent Thespian all round.

Showtime on Demand on FIOS has / did have all the episodes from all seasons on demand for free with your subscription.

Oh. I read that the books are very different from the television series.
    http://dexterwiki.sho.com/page/Dexter:+The+Books+vs.+The+Series
If you love the series, you'll hate the books.
The latest ones have been receiving very low ratings due to their 'super natural' elements, and Cody's+Astor's...

    Finale:
I felt that this season was whole mess. We never really got to see Dexter's insanity like we did in the previous seasons... until the finale. There were also very few side killings this season. Usually Dexter learns something about himself from his victims, but I suppose now he has nothing new to learn. Although I did love how the writers left very few lose strings, connecting the first season to last, making it a perfect series finale.`
I missed his demented smile. "Ta-da." So hot.

I believe it really happened. If anything they will show how Trinity actually finds out where Dex lives and such. The only flaw this season I believe, is it took them 4 seasons for Dex to make a mistake. I mean kill the WRONG person. If he's been doing it this long there had to be one or 2 mistakes...

Yeah, Dexter was always the killer in shining armor up to this past season.

That was the most amazing season finale I've ever seen in my entire life. So well done. this was a week of great season finales, it makes me sad to have to wait for the next season though.

Wouldn't that mean the removal of Michael C. Hall's real-life wife, Jennifer Carpenter? I don't think that'll happen in the near future.

I read that she is actually dead (the actor is pissed off) and that it was one of two possible endings. The other one being Dexter hearing about a child murderer that was recently release/escaped from prison and Dexter trying to decide whether he'll go meet up with Rita or....
    Shrug.
    Who knows.

That was an intense finale, comparable to the first season.

It was about time the Trinity (or is Quadrinity?) -storyline came to a conclusion. As for the true ending, I've been concerned about it ever since we first saw Trinity in action. I still don't understand where he found the time to do it though.

I look forward to the fifth season, how the writers will handle this new situation, and how the last episode's revelations will play out.

There's now even a Wikipedia entry dedicated to the episode

Every season has a serial killer that dexter has to ultimately kill.....Out of everyone i didnt feel like Lila should have been killed. Dexter traveled to France just to kill her. lol.

Lila simply knew too much and was blackmailing (not to mention nearly killed his family). Thus fitting the code.... the bitch deserved it.

This season's finale I saw cominig - I liked it, but it sets up season 5 as the last one imo. Not much else more to go with this show.

Yeah I finally caught up and completed season 4 this week.
I have to say the finale was well done and it was a bold move for the writers.
They do a great job with keeping their fans intrigued with plot twists or cliffhangers.

If ending wasn't a dream sequence then I agree, season 5 may be the last season. I guess we will have to wait and see.icon_wink.gif
