    Hi guys,

I'm go to break up threads up into pages because they get slow when they have too many posts. I'm looking for some feedback on how many posts per page you want to see. 20? 50?

    Thanks,

    Chris

I love this idea... 20 or 25 is probably good.

Here's my thought: Can you make the original post appear at the top of each page? (You were probably going to do that anyway...)

Yay. It´s a tricky one as sometimes posts are a sentence and sometimes an essay. I guess you can´t do it by lines of text.

Long enough not to destroy the flow, but not so long that we can´t follow easily. 25 rather than 50, but I don´t really know.

I've never though about that, but that's a very good idea! And how about letting us choose how many posts to display on each thread, like where you can click 25 or 50 or "show all"

I'll default it to 25 but give the option to view 50 or All for any given thread. I'll also allow you to set your permanent default to 25,50 or All on the "preferences" page. Does that sound reasonable?

    Thanks guys.

I would do it by chars. That will insure that the page lengths are relatively even. Likewise, you might want to consider giving a view all option or single page option like most of the newspaper sites do. That is sometimes convenient.

You can post a ton of text without loading problems.
It is the image and video threads that load poorly.
Perhaps making a limit by bits would be most efficient.

The problem is that when people post pics and videos, the refresh time is significantly longer. Would a character count make a difference in this situation?

Is there a way to paginate by the literal length of the scrollbar rather than the number of characters?

Excellent idea! Heck, some of us *ahem* *looks in mirror* need a 'next page' or 'view more' option for our thread responses.

Can we have an option to siphon money from the bank accounts of right wing lunatic organizations like NOM and AFA?

heh, so u had to hear it from Realjock so u could finally understand it was worthy.... icon_razz.gif

I think 25 is good since some threads get a lot of posts with embeded vídeos and images.
