    Ok.
I know that it's not a technically a sport, but I recently purchased a deck of playing cards.
Does anyone know of a good web site for learning to play a game
of ... WHATEVER? Or could suggest a good game for a rookie ? I have down time right now, and would like to learn a good solo game, as well as learning to play with others.
I have never really been that into sit down games, but need to rest up and work my mind outside the gym, Bikram, cycling, climbing, and running ( whew ! )...the general mayhem.

    Peace, jocksters -

    Thanks, buddy.
Will do...just trying find the fastest and best way to soak up the rules of diff games, having played NO card games up till' this point. My bf is going to teach me black jack and poker once we see eachother again.... at the end of this month, but want to get a head start.
Any definitive routes for these games, lemme know .

Spades is a personal favorite of mine. A Google search turned up this page for rules:

    http://www.pagat.com/boston/spades.html

There's multiplayer online versions, too. Its main weakness is that it really only works best with EXACTLY four people, but that also makes for good conversation. If you're not too busy thinking about strategy, that is.

well, bryant... the obvious one is solitaire.
but i actually love a good game of solitaire.

i think you should play poker online to get a feel for it before your boyfriend comes back. then you can surprise him and kick his ass!

Great multiplayer game is Canasta, but you need to get a special deck really. It has two decks of cards and is scored dependent on your hand etc. Highly addictive for 3 or 4 players.

OK. AN update here. My BF and I set the card games aside and I have taken to chess.

Poker was easy to learn, but did not hold me.
