Would you date a smoker?

I hate to say it but it's pretty much a deal breaker for me. I remember kissing a girl in high school who smoked and it was gross. It tasted like an ash tray and was a HUGE turn off. What about you? Is smoking a deal breaker?

I would say that it is not a deal breaker, but definately a factor.

There are factors like how frequently they do smoke, and so on.
And if they were willing to freeze outside in the winter months, as well as brush their teeth often so as not to taste like a walking cigarette.

Smoking pot or doing any other drugs is a definate deal breaker though.

I would (assuming everything else about him was good). But it would also be a factor with me as well. He better understand that I am not going to makeout right after he puffs on this cancer stick. I would also have to stack up on mouthwash. Though even the mouthwash dosn't completely mask the smell - I've dated smokers before.

on holiday i usually tend to treat myself and have a smoke every now and then, when i used to smoke regularly never in the house ( yuck at the smell ) and I think you know what ...if people can be generous about having some drinks every now and then.... let someoen have fun having a smoke on a rare occasion... icon_smile.gif I always have a smoke passing an exam icon_smile.gif

Smoking isn't a deal-breaker, per se, but it's a hard blow to come back from. (pun intended)

Have no problem having sex with a smoker if it's been a while since the last cigarette. Would never live with one again though.

So defining dating as exploring a possible relationship, no.

I would never make it too far into the process with a heavy smoker but I wouldn't automatically disqualify a guy because he smoked. I occasionally have a cigarette for no apparent reason other than it sounds good.

In strangers the smell of cigarette smoke grosses me out but when I care about someone it takes a lot more than the lingering smell of a cigarette to offend me.
But the "lingering hint" of one or two is much different than a "pervasive stench" from heavy daily smoking that follows a person like a crazed stalker.

The ex smoked and it was an opening/excuse for him to use other substances. I won't date another smoker, just for the fact that it kills the body and will rack up medical bills later in life!

Sure. I'm assuming he knows how to brush his teeth and gargle like the rest of us.

I'd even date... get this... someone with fat on him! icon_eek.gif

Nope... tried it a few times.

Total romantic kill when I taste his smokey breath... that or asking him to go use listerine totally kills it too, despite coming back with a more minty, tingling mouth.

Deal breaker. We're in the 21st century and the fact that ANYONE still smokes is just mindboggling.

I have a love hate relationship with smokers. On the one hand, I am a very "clean cut," dangerously close to prudish person myself and I'm obsessed with health and being as virtuous as I can, but on the other hand, I admire the edgier set. They do the things I wouldn't dare do: some are dangerous and danger is sexy. Most of the time guys who smoke do other exciting things like ride motorcycles, curse, wear jeans, say exactly what's on their mind protocol be damned, scratch themselves. Not all, but some are the quintessential "bad boy", which I won't lie, I got a weakness for that. About physically, I never smoke and when someone who smokes kisses me, the rush of tobacco causes a buzz that is soothing and stimulating at the same time. Smokers say they get a buzz from smoking and it relaxes them. Well, they smoke all the time so it is small. I never smoke so it is BIG. It hits me like a cloud and then the sex starts with this strange feeling already underway, WOW! I don't find myself kissing a smoker very often so I regard it as a delicacy. Long term, no I couldn't be with a smoker very often or live with one because of the dangers of second hand smoke and the smoke and smell would become too much. However, in small doses every now and then, I'm game.
