    Hear ye the words of Jesus, the god of Christianity;

    1. Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

    2. Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you

    3. Matthew 7:8 For every one that asketh receiveth

    4. Mark 11:24 What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

    5. Luke 11:9 Ask, and it shall be given you

    6. Luke 11:10 For every one that asketh receiveth;

    7. John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do

    8. John 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

    9. John 15:7 ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

    10. John 15:16 whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

    11. John 16:23 Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

    12. John 16:24 ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

    In reading the above verses which contain the (alleged) words of Jesus, a recurring theme becomes quite clear, which is that WHATEVER a believer asks of Jesus, he will do.

    I have a piece of paper on my desk, which contains 16 numbers in groups of four like so:

    A. XXXX
    B. XXXX
    C. XXXX
    D. XXXX

    To all believers in Christianity and Jesus, go ask Jesus what the above 16 numbers are, then post the numbers here in this thread. Remember, there are 12 instances posted above where Jesus (allegedly) stated that only BELIEVERS can ask and receive. Since the god of Christianity is claimed to have created the entire universe in 6 days time, it should be a trivial matter for Jesus to reveal these 16 numbers to any believer who ASKS.

    Don't make excuses or try to convince us the verses do not state what any rational person can clearly read. Simply ask Jesus for the 16 numbers and post them in this thread.

    your saying god made the book so that it is open for questioning and interpretation ? if so, how do you know this?

    Then how are the 12 verses, which Jesus allegedly said, supposed to be taken, if not literally? And if a god wished to communicate with mankind, isn't it safe to assume he would have the ability to communicate his message in ways that are clear, leaving no doubt as to what he or she meant? Why would he provide instructions, which mean the opposite of what they intend to mean? Wouldn't that be a bit risky, given one's afterlife would be dependent on understanding the text?

    OK you are bashing Christians for believing in a higher power (God) and for believing in His will. I am a Christian, but I can tell you now that I do not follow the book page by page. The bible is there for you to take what you can from it, to make you're life feel better by comparison. Also, it is there to show you that no matter what is going on in your life, there have been situations and stories that seem horrible at first glance, but they always make it out for the better. I view God as a positive influence in my life. I have had many many many bad experiences in my short life and without my Faith, I don't know if I would have ever made it to the next chapters in my life. Now, if you don't believe in God that's your decision, but don't bash others for doing so. Yes its a belief system and yes it's not science (where everything has concrete evidence). You bashing Christians or bashing anybody who believes in what they believe in makes you no better than those who bash gays. You are acting upon the evil with evil. It doesn't make sense to use hatred for everything that conflicts you.

    Personally I can't speak for the homosexual hating Christians, and from the standards that I have learned from Christianity, they're not real Christians. They preach about forgiveness and never leaving anyone behind and loving all for their flaws, but they rule out homosexuals.

    I'm not siding with anyone, I'm siding with my beliefs. I believe in love, forgiveness, and care for my fellow man. Nobody is better than the next person based off of they're situation or status in life.

    You better reread the verses carefully again because what you ask must be done in Jesus' name. Study the Bible and you will see what it means to "pray in Jesus' name. " You obviously haven't looked at this.

    1. You say you aren't bashing but the way it comes off it sounds like you are.
    2. It also sounds like you are mocking those for believing in God by asking them to provide you with 16 numbers. (1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16). it doesn't matter what numbers are put there, no one is a mind reader. If thats all you are worried about then you probably should re-evaluate your life man.
    3. YES, if I didnt have God in my life, I would have gotten through what I did. I had no other support system and belief and prayer helped me day by day.
    4. im not mad or upset just simply stating a point.
    5. It is disrespectful to continue to ask for "concrete evidence" for those who believe in a higher being. On any of these posts I havent seen anybody badger you for not believing in God.
    6. You are only worried about the first book in the bible. Maybe you should read the rest. That's the problem with people now a days. They take the bad parts of a story and twist it u so it comes off negative, while not reading the good that follows it. You are just another form of the media. Someone who twist up words that makes something look bad.

    As a Christian it is proper for you not to like a lot in the church. Jesus himself condemned the false teachings in the church and we should do likewise.

    I hope sooner or later you'll realize you need to make substantive, persuasive arguments in order to influence someone, rather than dismissively saying "You don't understand the Bible."

    You've waived off making a plausible retort with me in the past using the same "you don't understand the Bible". Which is laughable considering I've read the entire Bible three times and studied it both devotionally as a follower for most of my life, and academically at university.

    Who, in your opinion, is qualified to match wits with you when it comes to understanding the Bible? Please tell me.

    What gives you a superior understanding of the Bible compared to others here? Please answer this also.

    Neither question is rhetorical. I'm looking for a real answer.

    Luke 4:12 Jesus answered, "It says: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'"

    you are not the first to test God. 3 time devil asked Jesus for miracles, but Jesus did not entertain devil any miracles. could he do it? sure. the same book you consider fair-tales are filled with miracles, but why the writers won't entertain devil with answers when he asked Jesus to show miracles? Because not even men would be that foolish to oblige. why would you expect God to show you truth, just so you come around and mock him?

    I believe this is in the book of James. Apparently, there are conditions to all this asking and receiving. So Jesus was telling the truth -- if you read his words in their proper context.

    Actually Unoblivion, I have huge respect for atheism. I can't say the same about some atheists though.

    I also have huge respect for christianity, though I can't say the same about some christians.
    I feel this way about any religion and non-religion, and those that believe in them. How you believe in something, atheist or theist, is often more important than what you believe in.
